    Default Graphics cards installation

How do I install new graphics cards? Is it as simple as taking my old Geforce 5200 FX out and replacing it with the newer 7600? Or is there something else?

    Thanks.

Uninstall the old drivers, pull out the old card, plug new one in, install latest drivers.

Yes, it would also cause a bunch of problems. Uninstall your old driver, clean it with Driver Cleaner, then install new driver.

I think all nVidia cards use the same "unified" drivers, but you should remove and re-install them just to be on the safe side.

    To remove drivers do this:
    Start->Setting->Control Panel
Double click "add or remove programs"
Go trough the list and uninstall all the nVidia related programs.
Go back to the Control panel.
    double-click "System"
    Select the "hardware" tab.
    Click "Device Manager"
this gives a list of all the hardware devices in your system.
Double click "Display adapters" to see what display adapters you have installed
Then right-click and "Uninstall" all remaining display devices. (if there are no display devices then removing the software did it for you, so just close)

    Turn off your computer
    Switch the video cards.
    Boot up again.
Windows will prompt it has found new hardware and asks you to install new drivers.
Close the wizard and run the driver software you downloaded from nVidia instead.

Then restart and everything should work.
