Thread: [Preview] Armenia overhaul

  1. #41

    Default Re: [Preview] Armenia overhaul

I would like to provide Armenian translations to the unit names. Most of the unit names have Farsi (Persian language) names and not Armenian

    MISSILE INFANTRY

    Levy slingers = Barsatikner

    Light archers= Netadzikner

    Armenian Javelinmen= Hay Nizakaharner

    Kurdish Javelinmen= Kurd Nizakaharner

    Armenian Archers= Hay Netadzikner

Medium Javelinmen= Marzvats Nizakaharner (in this case Marzvats means trained unless you want the word medium which would be michin)

    Elite Archers= Aravel Netadzikner

    MELEE INFANTRY

Caucasian Highlanders=Kovkasian Lernatsi ( or Caucasian axemen= Kovkasian katsinakirner)

    Medium Swordsmen= Marzvats sramartikner

    Levy Spearmen= Nizakamartikner

Medium Caucasian Spearmen = Marzvats Kovkasian Nizakamartikner

Medium Armenian Spearmen= Marzvats Hay Nizakamartikner

Heavy Armenian Spearmen Guard= Kentronakan Gund

Heavy Armenian Swordsmen= Zrahakir Hay Sramartikner (Zrahakir means armour bearing/carrying)

    MISSILE CAVALRY

Hetselazor means cavalry Ayrudzi (Ayr=man dzi=horse) was in Ancient and Middleages time the term used for all types of cavalry it was the name of the Armenian cavalry but just the term cavalry is hetselazor so in the translations I would use both terms and leave it up for the team to decide which they want or which fits better.

    light horse archers= Netadzik Hetselazor/Ayrudzi

    Light horse skirmishers= Nizakahar Hetselazor/Ayrudzi

Armoured Horse Archers= Zrahakir Netadzik Hetselazor/Ayrudzi

    MELEE CAVALRY

    Medium Melee Cavalry= Marzvats Hetselazor/Ayrudzi

    Lesser Armenian Nobles= Aspet Hetselazor/Ayrudzi

Armenian Noble Knights= Hay Aznvakan Aspet

    High Armenian Nobles= Nakharar Ayrudzi

    Armenian Commander= Hay Sparapet

These are all of the units in this preview that i have taken the English names for and translated them into Armenian. Magnar let me know if this was helpful, and if there is help with any more translations i would be happy to do it.

A suggestion for the cavalry that i would make is to use the term Ayrudzi for all of the armoured noble units and Hetselazor for the unarmored cav units

    * If the names are too long I can give shorter names for the units instead of direct translations like I provided.
