    Default Narrative campaign

    Hi everyone!

I'm new in this forum and therefore, before I go to the point of this topic, I would like to thanks the whole DEI team for the fantastic work they've done so far and are still doing today. Your mod is one of the best overhaul I've ever seen in the whole Total War series (it makes the original game feel like a caricature, seriously), and I'm really looking forward to play v1.0 when it will be realeased

Now to my question: you guys surely have heard of the Youtube series "Massalia Tales", displaying a DEI campaign while telling a historical fiction? Well, I can never get enough of it, and was wondering if some of you knew something similar (still surprised btw. that so few youtubers actually don't have this mod and keep campaigning on vanilla).

    Thanks for replying!

Haven't seen any others, believe me I've searched. I'm currently planning a coop narrative campaign with anyone who's like-minded. Still haven't reached out to anyone and I'm thinking of waiting for 1.0. I think the series is wildly entertaining.

Episode 11 is out RIP Zenon

I've been watching for a while now and this play-through makes me feel as though I'm watching Game of Thrones. Haven't seen anything else like this on youtube, this guy for all I know is in a league of his own.

Too bad I would love to do a multiplayer campaign too, but still waiting for my new computer to even be able to play the game (I only have a notebook for now).

And yeah, R.I.P. Zenon, a great general who eventually fell victim to his own hubris. R.I.P. the brave defenders of Genua too, those freaking Gauls are truly relentless!

It is indeed very cool! I started a knew campaign with rome and tried to follow in his footsteps of having a "narrative/role play" approach. Its not as sophisticated as he does with some fancy youtube video's. I simply write a year in year out journal of all major developments happening. Defo spices my game
    "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"

"If only all of Rome had just one neck."

"Everytime you pre-order a game, god kills a kitten"

Have you saved the replays? And record the time spent on the campaign map? You could try to do the same based on what you wrote (even if it's not that sophisticated I would watch it ).

Hey, it's Devin here, glad you guys are liking the series!

RIP Zenon, I'm sorry I put you in so much danger out there, I shall avenge you!!

Personally I have looked for a long time for something similar using Total War games, haven't found it yet, nor has anyone I asked, but if you are the lucky one who finds it, do let me know. And if you do want to start doing them yourself (or anyone reading this does) let me know, as I would really like to help spread the narrative love since they are the type of video I want to watch!

Yeah, I've just started watching this. Excellent stuff! This is the kind of Let's Play I'd actually watch. I would try to record some gameplay myself, but I'm not sure my PC can handle it without lowering the graphics settings/unit sizes, and I'm not ready to sacrifice those yet.

Looking forward to watch this! Can you already tell us with which faction (not like it would really matter to me, just curious to know)?

No idea, but I don't think I'll do anything like this until 1.0 is released anyway. Maybe I'll do an IA campaign though (probably not with a Roman faction).

Same here, it would just suck so bad if 1.0 came out in the middle of the campaign!

I'd be down to make a narrative let's play multiplayer campaign with someone else. I think the RP could be good between two players especially if it isn't coop and they 'discover' each other . Who knows, it could fill in all the atmospheric gaps CA forgot about and other games do so well. I don't know how to edit videos but I use Photoshop and Illustrator so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out and I write for a living (but about things that bore me to tears) so this would be so much fun!

It would be fantastic! Unfortunately I am not that good at telling stories and still have no decent computer to play R2TW (for now). But if I change my mind and decide to give it a go I'll let you know

I do have a question though (actually more than one) [Attention, SPOILER!]: will you do another series after this one, since you're in big (big ) trouble for what I saw in your last video? And if yes, do you already know with which faction? Can't wait for the next video and what very well might be Massalia last stand!

Ha, you underestimate the strength of the Massalian people! We've got at least a few episodes of fight left, I've filmed about 2 episodes' more worth of footage, so we'll get at least that far! But yes I probably will continue with another series when this one is done, no idea what yet, I guess something totally different, so a faction in the bottom right hand corner of the map basically! Perhaps I shall put it to vote when it looks like Massalia's doom is certain.

Sounds like you guys need someone to introduce you to the aar forums. unless you only want videos. Aars are exactly what your looking for but are typed out stories with images. Check it out anyway. R2 aars are lacking but all the older games have plenty of amazing stories to discover.

Might as well be! Anywhere I can link to in a video to get viewers to vote will be fine, although if you need a forum account to vote in polls here that wouldn't be too good. Might have to look for some random website where I can make quick polls anyone can vote on.

Account is required and i believe the account needs a minimum of 25 posts to partake in polls.i know 25 is editing ones own posts. Cant remeber if polls are 25 or 50 or somewhere in between for sure though.

I've seen "Massalia Tales" too and must say that it's great stuff Devin! Whenever I watched Let's plays before I never got over the 2. or 3. part, while here I have already reached part 9 now.
Would like to know if/when there's more too.
And although Barune is right and I will have to take a closer look at the Aar section too, I have to admit that I prefer a good Video over a good read in most cases
