The Aztecs In Medieval 2

this is my first post so sorry if i do something wrong

But apart from the English, the nation im most interested in the upcoming Medieval 2 are the Aztecs. Ive searched the internet and found very little info on them :hmmm:

I was wondering if you guys could tell me more about them/direct me to somewhere with more info, it would really be a great help

I'm sure they will be modded in, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yea shouldnt be hard to unlock, although i wouldnt want to play as the aztecs. Im sure you wouldnt get a navy and you kinda just be sitting there for most of the game until someone discovers the new world. Even then the ai would probably offer little competiton and be easily pushed out of the continent.

Yeah, but if modders can give them a port and a boat they'd be set.

I have a feeling they will do that with ease.

I heard they were very infantry heavy, which is perfect because infantry are by far my favourite troop type! They definitely wont have cavalry, because there were no horses in America. Im intrigued as to what missile weapons they will have... Can anyone enlighten me?

Im guessing bows, but i wasnt sure if they gad bows or not. All their other weapons are kinda out of date. They didnt even have metal weapons, using obsidian for blades and stuff. But yeh, any info is much appreciated.

Oh, and as a side note thing, are there any 'Barbarian ' type factions in this game, because ive always loved playing as the barbarians, in rome they were always my favourite.

IIRC, the Aztecs didn't use slings, some other tribe did.

atlatl isn't a weapon either, it's a spear throwing thingamabob.

Aztecs have bows and spear throwers in MTW2.

If the atlatl isn’t a weapon then neither is a bow, and I’m pretty sure that some Aztec militia grade troops used slings, although I might be wrong. Either way we will probably find some slingers to kill some ware in the new world

Yes, and it is historical to a point. The Byzantines had several large guns mounted on the walls at Constantinople, but due to the fact the walls were kinda not built to withstand the kind of vibrations caused by the guns fire, they caused great instability in the walls when they returned firing...not to mention the largest byzantine gun exploded on its first shot (much as the turk's largest gun eventually broke.), but was later used in the siege as something of a giant shotgun, apparently.
There are also accounts of soldiers on the walls of constantinople firing down upon the assaulters with a huge slew of weapons, handguns are mentioned among these. Whether these are Italian arms (as there are at least 700 genoans...i think genoans...led by one Giustiniani) or byzantine, I can't remember/don't know.
