    Default Seige Battles

So here is a picture of the Spanish seige battle of the Almohads from the IGN review, and after they come through the walls there is a court yard (similar to RTW)...

i know ive heard others ask for a battle of the actual castle in the middle...

do you think this is possible to be modded in or anything? or is it just gonna have to wait for the next installment of TW games?

Edit: just to clear things up about the seige equipment here is a pic of spanish art that was moved within the walls (the cannons not the trebucheat sp?)

I see the picture now but I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you're asking.

I didn't understand the question, too...the only thing I know about that battle is that it is a historical battle that you can play in MP, too

I think he's saying that instead of fighting to control the keep in the center of the castle, you are just fighting to control the plaza like in RTW.

Well if buildings are enterable, it might be moddable. We'll have to wait and see.

This is new... I didn't think that buildings were able to be entered in-game? Has this not been denied by CA?

No idea really. In R:TW it seemed to have been a planned feature for the physical info files however I never got around to trying it. Maybe they scrapped it because it was buggy or didn't add too much to the game back then, so the chance of it actually happening are probably remote.

yea exactly... kinda. instead of battleing for alittle square where one enemy peasant who wanders on to can mess up the countdown or possesion thing, if there is a way to fight for control of the actual castle... or to have to destroy the castle or something... just discus what you think about the idea i guess...

But you're not fighting to control a castle... you're fighting to control the entire city along with all the buildings in it. The square in the middle is just representative of the entire city/castle, because it's in the middle, and if you've reached the middle of the city with a sizable number of troops, then you've probably done enough to capture the city anyway. I like the current system, it's simple and effective. Castle sieges and taking down keeps would be an awesome feature though. I'm sure cannons do damage to buildings now as well.

Does anyone have any idea if the pathfinding for units in sieges in MTW2 has been improved since RTW? Obviously no one will know from the demo but I was just wondering if there had been a definative answer on this? The pathfinding in RTW is terrible. Troops often get stuck in gateways or go a different direction to where they are ordered once inside the city. I have had several experiences with units being split in two and haveing half the troops one one side of the wall and half on the other making it impossible for them to move. I generally autocalc sieges as there is little point playing them. Too many times have I quit a siege mid-battle, reloaded and autocalculated instead.

The siege possibilities in MTW2 should be awesome. I'd hate for that to be spoiled by similar problems to RTW.

Agreed, I'd be very happy to know this. I got flipping annoyed when half my army would be destroyed by arrows from towers because of incompetent path-finding during sieges.

Yea that's another point. I hope the arrows from towers (if towers still fire them) has been reduced. It was pretty stupid how you could lost almost an entire unit to arrow fire from a tower when any units of archers on the walls couldn't cause half as much damage.
