Dismounting

Right, I know some people here are of the opinion that this has been answered, but Prof's play test didn't include the ability to dismount.

So the questions are:

1 Do you get the option to dismount your knights before a battle?

2 If so, why have the option to buy dismounted knights? Doesn't seem logical to me. Which in itself seems to answer my first question - you can't mount/dismount as an option. Not having he choice would be a shame in my view.

1) hasnt been supported or clarified, but nor has it been disproven...

2)it has not been said by anyone that you can buy dismounted knights in the campaign... all we know is that they are available to purchase for a cheaper price in custom/multiplayer battles... this could still leave the door open for the dismount ability and makes sense for the custom/multiplayer battles because if you know you will dismount them at the beginning then buy the dismounted unit for a cheaper price

I fully agree with you, i would be bumed if we had to train two different units in the campaign

smoke said that he could buy dismounted knights in the campaing so it has been confirmend actually.. but perhaps you can buy the dismounted version if you're 100% sure you don;t want them mounted, since that way you wouldn't have to pay for the horse

Perhaps you could buy dismounted knights only because CA was still working on the mounting/dismounting feature? We also know for sure generals can be on foot or on horseback, so the feature must be in there somewhere.

Well, we know that some factions have a general on foot (Scotland), not that we can switch from mounted to infantry generals..

I'm starting to think about it and that we have the option to hire dismounted Norman Knights (160) or mounted Norman Knights (100) on a certain settings. But then the mounted norman knights have the option of dismounting if needed, I mean we got dismounted generals so surely it's gotta be in there or it hasn't been setted yet. I mean who would want to buy a dismounted general?

It's also to provide other factions with a heavy unit I guess.

In Agincourt there are two dismounted generals.
King Henry
And a general French general.

In the Tutorial there are two dismounted generals.

In Otumba, there's also a dismounted spanish general who is part of the reinforcements sent to help you.

I meant what is it based on? You don't have anything else to compare it to.

I don't recall any TW games where you can only use a certain unit in historic battles. If it is then that's something new.
