Mod Background Information:
- This mod is MULTI-PLAYER ONLY. There is NO campaign.
- You can play historical scenarios as outlined below or play all battle maps in custom army mode.
- It is suggested that in single-player mode that you play the defending army.
- NOTE: Scenarios feature anywhere for 6,000 to nearly 20,000 troops combined. Up to 100 regiments per Army in Shiloh and Chickamauga. Your system will be stressed! And you will love it!

Historical Battle Scenarios for 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3: this is where you can play human vs. human or vs. any number of AI, or AI/humans... > Multiplayer > host battle > Scenarios > set up each side
- Antietam - Cornfield
- Antietam - Bloody Lane
- Antietam - Burnside Bridge
- Chickamauga - Day 1
- First Manassas
- Gettysburg - Cemetery Ridge
- Gettysburg - Culp's Hill
- Gettysburg - McPherson's Ridge
- Gettysburg - Round Tops
- Shiloh - Day 1
- Stones River

Additional Multi-player Battle maps:
- Antietam, full field by Primergy
- Enlow Fork, Slyk's home farm & surrounding area

Historical Scenario Army Information:
- All Regiments, Artillery Batteries, and Leaders have their accurate Order Of Battle designations. Generally as Regiment No.- State - Brigade - Division - Corps etc.
- All units are graded A to F according to source material which was available. Unit Icons are generally assigned according to Unit "Quality". You will notice that all units of similar quality (unless a "Special Named Unit/Iron Brigade") will share a similar Unit Icon. Special Units will have unique Icons. This should help you determine the quality of the units so that you align and/or use them most effectively.
- All units are assigned quality ratings on a standard scale. This normalizes all units according to their quality. This ties in closely with Moral and Fatigue tables.
- Battles are represented by major Regiments, Artillery Batteries, Army, Corps, Division and in some cases, Brigade Generals.
- Regimental strength are either 35% or 50% of actual reported strength at the time of battle. In some cases I have had to extrapolate units for multi-day battles. I have also set a 'floor' regiment size in many battles, an example being "50" men for most Antietam scenarios.
- Regiments, Batteries, and Leaders are all positioned in approximate positions according to the best source information that was available to me.
- Weapon assignments:
- Infantry: Units will have either Rifled muskets or Smoothbore. You will notice the smaller arch of fire for Smoothbore. Units with Smoothbore are firing "Buck & Ball" loads, deadly at close range. Pay attention as you position your regiments.
- Artillery: Units are generally represented accurately with the primary cannon type at time of battle. Many CSA batteries were combined gun types. The game restricts a battery to a single gun type, therefore I have assigned the most appropriate gun type to each battery.

**** Game Files are in Section 1 and the User script is Section 2 ****

Preparing Your System:

REMOVE ALL other mod files from your /data directory

I strongly advise the creation of a NEW folder in the: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\napoleon total war\data (or wherever your game is installed) directory.... like this...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\napoleon total war\data\acw

Once you download all files, copy and paste or drag and drop your files to the ....\data\acw folder

From here you can drag and drop or copy\paste the files from the \data\acw folder to \data

To revert back to the original Napoleon Total War game WITHOUT the mod, simply select all files with the "acw_" prefix, drag and drop them back to the /data/acw folder.

KNOWN ISSUES:

Do NOT send me emails complaining about the following
- Confederate General uniform gloss and normal map is messed up... dozens of hours and can't fix this.
- Confederate Colonel/officer gloss and normal map is messed up... dozens of hours and can't fix this.
- US General uniform gloss and normal map is messed up... ^
- 79th NY Highlander pants are messed up with shadow/lighting... no idea why
- US Sack coat is often messed up with shadow/lighting... no idea why

PERFORMANCE ISSUES:
- The historical scenarios are generally HUGE. Most are done with Regimental sizes of 50% actual strength, some such as Chickamauga and Shiloh are at 35%.
- Test and adjust your system settings to accomodate accordingly.

HISTORICAL SCENARIOS SUGGESTIONS:
- Generally it advised that if you play SOLO, you play the defending force. This not only provides the greatest challenge on most scenarios, but it also allows the AI to be more effective as the attacker.
- True challenges lay in playing 3v3 scenarios where the AI controls your other two army groups...good luck!

BUG REPORTING:
- Legitimate bugs reports are welcome and encouraged. There are many aspects that are core components of NTW and not this mod. Therefore I cannot always overcome certain issues.
- I will issues an update with fixes and corrections in a few months after LOTS of feedback is gathered.
- I would like to add content for a future patch, new battles, improved uniforms, etc., as possible.
- Please report ALL issues in THIS thread, not any other pertaining to prior versions of this mod.

LAUNCHER VERSION: (Provided by Primergy)

Hey,

I uploaded another version of the mod with a launcher tool to make things a bit more easier to start. The Launcher automatically moves all files (the packs and the user.script) to their folders and then starts the game. To remove the acw_files just press the "Exit"-button. Sometimes this button doesn't work and the game remains ACW. In this case, start the launcher, and just press "Exit" again.

Here are some screenshots, to explain where the acw.rar has to be placed and unzipped:

1. Download and save the acw.rar to the /steamapps/common/napoleon/data/ folder.
2. Open the rar and press the "Extract to"-Button (NO "Extract here")
3. Target folder should be: "(...)/steamapps/common/napoleon/data/acw"

1. To start the game, use the launcher in the acw folder

SECTION 2: User Script
================================================================================

EDIT THE "user.script" FILE IN YOUR DIRECTORY LOCATION SIMILAR TO:

C:\Users\Mark\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\scripts

Copy/paste the text below into the "user.script" file. REMOVE ALL other mod reference/.pack references from your user.script file.

If you do not have one, create one, use Notepad:

mod "acw_data.pack";
mod "acw_enviroment1.pack";
mod "acw_enviroment2.pack";
mod "acw_enviroment3.pack";
mod "acw_models.pack";
mod "acw_graphics.pack";
mod "acw_BSM.pack";
mod "acw_sounds.pack";
mod "acw_unit_icons.pack";

Absolutely FREAKIN beautiful. Thank you so much Slyk. Units look great, maps are amazing. Unfortunately, can't post any screenies yet as both battles Roast and I played crashed. Roast probably dropped on purpose because I was giving him a nasty beating. I will give you more feedback as soon as we can finish one. Looks wonderful so far.

update. All 3 battles Shiloh, Chickamauga and Stones River crashed before completion. Hopefully just a fluke. Roast hosted so it was probably his fault since I do believe he uses hamster's for his internet speed.

May I ask how? I'm having problems aswell, I get that exact background but none of the North Vs. South-stuff seems to be in there, no factions or scenarios (in the mp-menu of course) etc.

Make sure you delete any traces of the previous version, I had the same problem because I had overwritten the old files. Probably would be best to either start with a clean version of NTW or delete any file from old version.

When your saving the user. script file into your script folder. Make sure you save it as unicode.

ah, the problem was that I named it "user.script.txt" rather than just "user.script" I believe, gonna try it out later. (I've been away from Empire/NTW for too long it seems, haha)

Edit: Okay, the problem wasn't that it was named user.script.txt (it should have the txt extension) but that it wasn't saved in unicode format, that solved it.

Ok, great news. We got a completion today of a 3v3 mp battle on Shiloh map(just straight land battle no scenario). Thanks to all who played Primergy,Hunter,Haldir, Roast and Zoidberg. We did have Hunter and Roast drop later in the game, but we were able to complete it. Map was beautiful, using roads is quicker than going thru trees(which is a good thing). The only issue I saw was every artillery piece is missing 1 entire crew from 1 of the gunsClick image for larger version.

ID:	316262. I did happen to notice this same thing on Zoidberg's guns also which passed near my lines. I did not watch entire replay so I can't say I saw anything else other than Roast doing absolutely nothing but cowering in the corner while me and Zoidberg held off vicious assault's one after the other. Enjoy the replay.

Also, we had an issue with some players getting the message of "no response from host" when trying to join. So we tried tunngle later(after 3v3) with players who were not able to join our 3v3(we would have had a 4v4) and it worked perfectly. So, I would suggest that all N&S players download tunngle, just in case.

Didn't manage to play a game yet, but i heard from others that there are quite many CTDs while playing online. Will there be a fix?
