As of late, Russia has been flexing it's considerable military might in the Crimea and Ukraine incidents. A massive submarine hunt in Swedish waters fans the flames of Russophobia, as it's being assumed by most to be a Russian incursion. The Russians support the Assad regime in Syria, while America supports a moderate rebel group. It's a bit alarmist to call this a second Cold War, but Putin is certainly stirring the pot. My question is, should America give a damn?
Our so called "allies" in Europe have been rather anti-American in the recent years. Indeed, the whole world seems to think of us as some evil empire, come to colonize the Middle East and shove hamburgers down the global collective throat. Perhaps it is time to change the way American foreign policy works. Perhaps we have no business interfering in Ukrainian-Russian relations. Perhaps the EU can handle Russia alone. Maybe ISIS should be ignored, and the Arab world left to its fate.
If the world so hates America, then maybe it should live without America for a while. Let the medical aid to Africa cease. Let NATO attempt to function without American support. Let the Middle East burn. Hell, let the United Nations find a new headquarters. Maybe it's time for America to stop caring for an ungrateful world.
