— Field Marshal Sir William Slim.
AFAIK, the Lordz put off working on NTW for RTW because the AI couldn't handle musket infantry well enough. I know on the Lordz forums they explained that they were instead going to wait for M2TW for a total conversion because it already has musketeers in it.

There will be a N3TW on M2TW.
I shouldn't have to live in a world where all the good points are horrible ones.
Is he hurt? Everybody asks that. Nobody ever says, 'What a mess! I hope the doctor is not emotionally harmed by having to deal with it.'
Probably? I remember mutterings about it depending on the mod friendlyness of M2TW. I think it's fair to say there will be an NTW3 released for M2TW, whether or not it's released by the Lordz is another matter.
We will announce our future plans in the months to come, fear not we are not going to stop. We might surprise you even. All in good time, for now we will get our the 1815 Waterloo MP Pack in the next couple of days, that should keep you occupied for a while.

so, any chance of a NTW3 on MIITW?
A chance exists.
How big, I do not know.

Vimes had never got on with any game much more complex than darts. Chess in particular had always annoyed him. It was the dumb way the pawns went off and slaughtered their fellow pawns while the kings lounged about doing nothing that always got to him; if only the pawns united, maybe talked the rooks around, the whole board could've been a republic in a dozen moves. -Thud!, Terry Pratchett
have you guys had time to look at the MTW2 Ai, as to whether a campaign would be possible.?
i played NTW to death and waited patiently while NTW2 was developed, and i really miss the campaign mode. So news that a campaign would be possible with MTW2 would be very good news indeed.
i may even upgrade my pc to cope with MTW2 a bit better.

we first want to finish NTW2 before investigating m2.

not even an estimate, remember there are a lot of us gamers out there that really want a campaign again?

The Lordz, as a respected modding collective, do not plan to take projects on themselves that will not be finished.
Seeing the enormous numbers of dead and dying mods, we do not want to obligate into doing something, before we're sure it can be done, and worth doing.
Btw, even if NTW3 will be made, a campaign is an entirely different question.

way back when you first announced that you would'nt be doing a campaign mode for NTW2 on RTW, before NTW Ver7 was released. On your own site you said it should be possible because MTW2 had Firearm units in it already,
But the problem you said about AI units always being in skirmish mode, surely that will still occur in MTW2 as well, wont it?
I guess it depends what modding features CA have included.

I believe it was said that it might be possible, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Skirmish mode isn't a problem btw, even in RTW.
the problem occurs in RTW where units shoot behind other units, charge with no reason, suiciding generals, etc.

Removing the "fire_by_rank" from Musketeers in M2TW removes that annoying trait. Now the first rank fires, ducks to reload and the 2nd rank fires w/o moving, this isn't perfect but much better. They do not fire a concerted volley but rather in twos and threes. This is perfect for skirmishing. however I don't know how this would affect the line infantry.

There are a lot of small things, that after a while do build up so that you notice what was once inconceivable at a rather alarming rate. Things like volley fire, proper skirmishing for the lights and rifle-carrying units, and hand to hand combat are not what they could be. However, that does not stop NTW2 from being an enjoyable game playing experience. The MP community has adapted their own playing styles and rules to get around some of the more major faults, and the LMC have tried to keep up with their suggestions.

I think the announcment of TW:Empires will radically change NTW's future ... I think all your hard work and research can finally be put into an engine better designed to handle the changes in warfare. I hope NTW will start getting ready now ... because obviously you are have a major advantage over all other mods. I wish you the best of luck ... it is an era I have always had great interest in and it will need NTW to make it a really good game!
let me guess imperial guard firing first volley then after that there going BEhind the line.......not realistic........
(Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)
Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans
