Factions with classical hoplites
In EBI, the Ptolomies for instance don't have access to Hoplites outside of regionals in Greek settlements (and that red sea hoplite). But here in EB2 they can train classical hoplites regularly and start with several units of them. So my question is 'is it historical for the Ptolomies to have Classical Hoplites at the start of the game?'.

Re: Factions with classical hoplites
The Ptolemies employed almost exclusively greek and macedonian mercenaries with also some Galatian troops under the reigns of the 3 first kings of the dynasty and tried to fidelize those by granting them land in Egypt (mostly in the Fayum oasis and around Hermopolis Megale). After 217 BC and the battle of Raphia, indigenous elements and later orientals and jews became more important in the army.
So it is perfectly normal that the Ptolemaic army is composed mostly of Hellenic troops. The question is weather it should be classical hoplites rather than phalangites. City states under the influence of the Ptolemies still used hoplites so nothing shocking there regarding Asia Minor cities. There are still around 8000 hoplites among the nearly 70000 egyptian troops at the battle of Raphia. Regarding the red sea hoplites, i already wrote in an other post that Ptolemais-Theron should not be on the map since it was nothing more than a trade post and would rather have Hermopolis Megale on the map where it would be perfectly logical to be able to recruit hellenic troops there since this is where a lot of them were settled.
