    Default Changes in the wind

Does anyone else have the feeling that there will soon be a major shift in American Iraqi policy, ie, removing the troops?

I base this on 2 things unfolding. I predict a sweeping Democratic victory in next week's elections, and the rift that is developing between the Iraqi government's reluctance to reign in the Shia militia and America's opinion that this is a necessary step.

Well Bush has never had so little support, and quite rightly, so I can easily see a sweeping democrat victory.

Analysts and Republicans alike are expecting it. Well, they were until the Kerry gaffe.

I dont trust analyst or polls not after 2004 when both pretty much had Bush packing his bags. Far too many of the numbers posted are national wide polls, when you look at the state/local level (ie the people who are actually capable of voting for a specific person) the races are *alot* tighter. Honestly what Im worried about now is IF the Democrats dont win what its going do to the political landscape. You have people like Pelosi joking about what office she'll claim, IF by some chance Democrats fail its going to be a huge morale hit for the Democrats and may cause Republicans to get even further full of themselves. So at this point the Democrats NOT taking control of atleast the House is imo a major worry for the US as a whole thanks to all the pre-election hype.

The Democrats need to win this election to return the US to its proper political balance and hell I say that as an 'evil' Republican

Also, don't write the GOP off so easily, they still have the Diebold voting machines to fall back on if things start looking really bad...
Please...not this nonsense again but to play along Ill counter with this:

Yeah, how fortunate for the Republicans that Kerry put his foot in his mouth when he did.... Very coincidental....

    *cough*skull&bones*cough*

Still, even with Kerry's idiocy, It still seems most likely that the Democrats will win. To be honest, even if they do win, I don't think it's likely that we will see any significant change in US foreign policy, especially towards the Middle East. Remember, most of the Democrats leadership voted in favour of the war. The only real difference the two parties have is how it was carried out.

Also, don't write the GOP off so easily, they still have the Diebold voting machines to fall back on if things start looking really bad...
