the plague?

hopefully this is one of my last questions, i feel like ive been spamming but i cant wait to just find out so i know-sicily or venice.

ive heard the plague started in sicily? true or false? ive also heard it starts in france and central europe.

can anyone clear this up for me? also, how devastating is it? am i going to go from a large sicilian empire to 2000 population cities with all my armies going to 1/4 size?

if it does start in sicily, does the plague automatically spread? or would i be able to contain it on sicily and let it die out.

afaik the plague started in sicily, yes..
but I wouldn't know the answer to the rest of your questions..

I think it started, Europe at least, in Sicily but im not sure. If youre also talking about the game, i would want to know what historical accuracies it follows.

I don't know where in the game the plague starts or what percentage of pop and armies kill, but if we talk about historical facts the plague was bringed by mongols in a siege assault against the genoese colony of Kaffa/Caffa (Crimean Peninsule) and then merchants from Caffa/Italian cities came to Messina, Genoa and Venice and then the plague did the things that we all know, again the historical accuracies weren't followed at all http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Plague

I'm not worried about it when I play Sicily. I've lived through 3 Macedonian plagues in RTW, haha.
