Default Campaign map textures..(beware big image)

I just thought I had to post this ss. Just look how gorgeous the textures are. All the fields and woods and the little ships.... I'm sorry, I just cant help myself... it looks so good...

All this picture needs is a Crusading army on its way to Jerusalem...

This got me thinking, the campaign map for the next TW should resemble google earth to a certain degree. Most of the game you will be zoomed out but for maneuvering armies and such you could really zoom in and place them somehwhere beneficial. Lots of possibilities with that kind of detail. Would be the next ''revolutionary'' step as per the TW series pattern thus far.

That would only happen if CA decided to go for a map that spans over the whole world (such as Imperialism: Total War), or they create some kind of border for the map.

The campaign graphics are definitely a vast improvement over R:TW, however I can't help to notice that the cities and tokens look pretty much glued-on instead of integrating nicely into the terrain.

They look like small extravagant "Monopoly" houses set on an uneven risk map.

Haha, you'll notice Jerusalem is already firmly in Christian hands!

Nice picture, it really shows the details of the map. Nothing has been ignored!

that is a really good map. I love the part that they made roman empire red not purple. But shouldnt constantinople have more walls around the city?

The Byzantines are, in fact, purple. On this map the Venetians have seized control of the entire eastern Mediterranean.

Well, Constantinople is a city in this screenshot, not a castle, so either the person reworked it or it starts out that way, in which case you have to convert it to a castle to get more walls.

    Edit: Bah, beaten.

I should think it depends on whether the owning faction decided it would be a castle or a city... I guess they have decided on city...

well first off its venice thats the red and yellow that conquered greece ect.

but whats wierd is, if you look closely, milan has conquered france, scotland conquered england, AND denmark conquered the HRE. would be odd to see all of those things happen in one campaign.

Notice that this is turn 189 so this is VERY far into the game...

That's great, and I love the textures. But I'm still ****** off about them making Hungary a whole province to itself, as well as making that wierd Jugoslavia province instead of separating Serbia, Croatia etc, not to mention them calling Dyrrachium 'Durazzo'. Otherwise, yeah, it's beautiful.

I noticed there are 2 regions in eastern Europe that are both red AND white colored? I wonder what that signifies?

I think that they are just outside the visual range of the player faction so the parts of the map that the player could actually see (through watchtowers and agents etc) appears light and the area of the province that he cant see appears darker.

Both campaign map and minimap looks good.
(The minimap didn't look so well at first sight IMO, but now improved)
