I love the campaign. I mostly just auto resolve battles unless the forces are super close and the battles are critical. Theres just something about managing and moving the armies about that is more appealing.

"The Legions will not fail you, do not fail them." Roma Mod
I dont know, I like the battles better, but they can often get dull and i find my self autoresolving many battles. I would have to say its a 50/50 thing.

i agree with you. around 50/50 i love the campaign map and i love battles.Originally Posted by Azog 150

I agree to an extent with Azog 150, The battles for me are my favourite parts of the game. Just getting to watch thousands of troops slog it out, espcially in the M2TW graphics is just gonna be a great experience, although I have a tendacy(sp) to make all my armies with the same make up, same number of unit etc you know what I mean. So it can become a little repeatative.
So it really is a 50/50 thing, although sometimes I enjoy the campaign map more, sometimes battles more.
But to actually give you an answer to your question I will have to stick with Battles.
Edit: Fixed a "u"
Well we cant know until we play i think, with the improved battles and graphics as well as AI i may find my self playing out a lot more battles. But also with the improved campaign map...... I dunno. It will all be new to me because i never played mtw, so now i will see the pope, priests, cardinals, princesses, crusades ect on the campaign map. We never got anything like the in Rome or Shogun

I love the campaign as they are different each time, the battles seem to get repetive and boring. When you can pwn the AI in the battles, what is the point of fighting.

Both equally. I wouldn't enjoy the campaign so much without the battles and the battles without the campaign. The battles need to mean something to be fun though, so I'm glad it appears alliances, religion and AI will reduce the number of battles and make them tougher, making them more decisive and meaningful.
I like RTS as much as i like Civilisation-like games. So for me, campaign is just the "must" Total War series can offer. Thanks to CA btw!
"He could hear her still at times. Promise me, she had cried, in a room that smelled of blood and roses, Promise me, Ned. The fever had taken her strength and her voice had been faint as a whisper, but when he gave her his word, the fear had gone out of his sister's eyes."
Eddard and Lyanna Stark about Jon Snow Targaryen.
Campaign wins hands down. I hardly ever play single battles unless I am testing settings and in RTW I got sick of playing online against power players.

I like the campaigns, i agree with the above poster, moving armies around all the managing you have to do. Make sure you have enough people in a province to recruit an army and such. Its really fun and i am not that good at the battles. I will play some of the battles in the beginning then after i get board of them i will auto-resolve.

I find the most satisfaction in playing the campaign for awhile, and then eventually engaging in the thousand man battles..... especially since I also missed MTW, I think the new campaign features just make it even more engrossing.
I like both equally. The campaign is the story and the build up of all the wars/battles and the battles are the conclusion. The battles are what drew me to Total War but as I began playing the campaigns, I soon realized that one compliments the other. Playing custom battles are fun but having a story behind the battles is even better.

the campaign gives meaning to the battles I fight in it.. I don't like battles without purpose.. there's nothing at stake there...
but in the same way do the battles give meaning to the campaign.. I decide the outcome of them, so I decide how strong my empire will eventually be..
so I have to agree with a lot of people above me.. it's 50/50
Campaign. I could play the game with just the campaign. The battles are pointless without a purpose.
if I had to choose one or the other, I'd go with campaign. The battles in RTW are too repetative. I hated fighting multiple battles against gaul warband every single turn. Hopefully battles are more decisive and final in M2TW. In real life, two countries would have a war, fight the battle, and whoever won the battle won the war (not always, this is just a stereotype).
Battles? I guess custom battles are meant? Pointless, i use them only to test modded units.
But naturally i love the battles in the campaign, and a campaign without challenging battles would decrease my fun greatly, so both belongs together in a TW game.

Any chance for this exam? Very low, because the established Anthropocentrism destroys the basis of existence.
