Just a tiny littly point ( prob. for modders )

Just 2 days ago i watch a docu about crusades & saladin etc to warm up for 10 nov. In that docu they talk allot about weapons in the crusade. The also talked about 10 / 15min about the BOW.

In that time there was a big difference they told. The Crusaders shoot their bow with 3 fingers ( 116 mphs if i remember dunno if it was mphs but on their uk teller there was 116 ). But Saladin ( and all the muslim factions ) didn't shoot with 3 fingers but with their thumb only ( around 107 mphs - 107 on their speed trap ). The big difference between those styles is/was that thumb shooting had far more accurcy ( dunno how to write ) more precise.

Idd the 3 finger shooting.... so if the docu was right ( i guess otherwise a big fault to include that part for 10/15min ) this ss is fault and should have been a thumb shot.

Yeah, that was a tiny little point. It'll be probably changed in a mod, and the accuracy will probably be changed too. But probably a slower rate of fire.

why would a thumbshot be more accurate?

why shouldnt it? you can use your other fingers to stabilize the arrow.

well when they used three fingers to shoot an arrow, the arrow usually rested on one of those fingers, so stabalizing wouldn't be much of an issue.
plus the power to pull the string would be devided over 3 fingers instead of just the thumb, which, I'd think, would cause better accuracy.

Thumb shot you could better aim ... btw this come forward after the big battle ( one of the first of Saladin ) at the crusades 20.000 crusaders went outsite to get some water. They where ambushed by Saladin and did win big time because of those archer ( with thumb shot :tooth: ) and in that same battly the stole ( won ) the holy cross ( the cross jesus was ...... idd ). After this the cross was/is for ever lost. Nobody seen it anymore ( sins ) ...

well could you at least give us a reason why they'd be able to aim better?
just saying that certain archers beat other archers using that technique isn't enough.. they might simply have been better archers.

Just consider your self luck there using the 3 finger shot, otherwise the Thumb shooting is pretty much the Cliché when it comes to archery.

Well, we can maybe mod this depending on the hand model. In RTW, it was 1 piece, not that easy to change, if someone could do it, it would mean redoing the animation and the model.

Thumbshooting has a smoother release than 3 Finger.

Today, if you are a bowhunter, you can get a device called a Release, that gives you the power of 3 finger, but the smootheness of thumbshooting.
