In the Battle of Agiancourt (spelling-sorry), the english army have large stakes embedded into the ground to protect the archers. Does anyone know if we could this in the campiagn game or is it just for the historical battles???

As far as I know this is a new feature archers can use and it is a historically correct feature too.Originally Posted by Mystic Ninja
Yes, as we've seen in some modded battles, the yeomen has a special ability to "deploy stakes" during the deployment phase. This can only be done during the deployment phase and they can't be moved after that. Pretty neat.
One thing that worries me though is how it will affect bridge battles. Put stakes up infront of the bridge and no cavalry can cross? That's harsh.
also you can build stakes to surround your entire army. that would be cheating!!!
No, it wouldn't, since it was done in real life - BUT, you'd need damn lot of archers to do so, and since infantry can pass this stakes without any problem, you'd be screwed very soon.Originally Posted by Mystic Ninja
Oh, and I'm glad this can only be done during deployment phase - since nobody would deal with this stakes in the heat of battle, remember, they are sticking in the ground!

Froom what i've seen from the hacked custom demo battles, you cannot deploy troops right up against the bridge, so you wouldn't be able to deploy stakes right in front of it.

These stakes will work like a weak phalanx. Imagine these stakes deployed just in front of pikemen, what a combination![]()
Well now the exclusion of plantable pavise shields makes little sense.
I have to hand it to the CA-Bashers, that was quite an inventive way of turning a good feature against them.Originally Posted by Revan The Great

well defending now don't have to worry about cav hitting my flanks and more
Don't bother about mispelling as the real name of the town is "Azincourt" and not "Agincourt", but nobody bothered telling CA about it.Originally Posted by Mystic Ninja
As for stakes, i think it has been mentioned by the devs a while ago that some archer units would have the ability to put stakes in from of them. So i guess u'll see it in the campaign.
I take it that stakes will be allotted and deployed in the same manner as mines in seiges.

Considering that such a location would put Henry V far deeper into France than he ever got, I postulate that "Azincourt" is correct. That location certainly seems much more correct. Check Google Map for Azincourt, it gives a location on the Northern French coast right across the Channel from London.

ok, now that makes me want to have cavalry that can swim![]()
Ouch, well surely with stakes deployed like that, bridge battles will be far easier then they are already. damn. (you could probaly win it with stakes alone)

can cavalry that walks at a slow pace (ie not running or charging) pass those stakes?
cause it would be kinda weird if they couldn't.. there's enough space there to let a horse pass as long as it watches where it steps
they can, so there so there is hope, actualy in the battle i do that in, the AI will sometimes counter the stakes doing that, sometimes though they just charge them O_oOriginally Posted by Salil
I havnt seen cavalry try and charge through stakes yet. What happens? Is it a few casualtys or some kind off blood bath with mass skewaring?
