Third Age Total War Freezing!

I am playing third age total war as the Orcs of Gundabad and find myself freezing the same turn every time I reboot the game. It freezes on Rhun's turn every time. Sauron had just called for an invasion of osgiliath and everyone was down there attacking it, and it freezes on Rhun's turn.
I am running windows 8:
AMD A8 quad core processor
8 gb of ram
Nvidia integrated GeForce graphics card with a gb of desdicated graphics.
I have tried countless things like editing files, turning of AI movement, and even disabling daylight savings time.
Please help, I don't want to lose this save!

Laptop perhaps? How long have you waited for this turn to end? It is an invasion, it is in the middle of processing the AI turn, for some users it takes longer..

Never had this problem before, but yes it is a Laptop. Usually I let it try to load for about 5 minutes, open task manager but the screen is black and I can only click on the task bar. I have to switch user to get the desktop showing again, and even then the mouse won't load on some parts of the screen. I have to lower my resolution sand move the window just to use the task manager, which at this point says tatw isn't responding. I close it, the computer works fine. I have been playing the tatw for about a month or so on this laptop and haven't encountered this yet.

Turn off ALL shadows, do not use anti aliasing, shaders set to 2, battle shadows off, lower all details etc.. M2TW Engine is an old game engine and is not well optimised for laptops and AMD CPU chipsets, and it can also use just one CPU core.

Also, installing Medieval II TW+Kingdoms+mods anywhere else, just not in Program Files or Program Files(x86) folder helps a lot, and it even reduces turn times.

Actually, my average wait time between turns totals at a little less than a minute usually.
