You can read the article, but you gotta see the video. Could this be considered illegal? To force someone out like that. I mean, he made a good point that he IS a member of his constituency and has a right to ask questions. Who does this look bad for, the guy doing the heckling and liberals, or Allen and the republican supporters who got physical with the man?

I do not like this situation at all. In my opinion, these guys greatly exceeded their bounds by getting rough with this guy, they crossed the line. I feel that this hurts the image of thses chaps, and maybe(little unsure of this) could further effect Allen's campaign in Virginia.

Any comments, I'm sure this could get ugly in here.

Its not good for anybody, IMO. From the the CNN article the blogger comes off as a first rate jackass, which would be consistent with his party symbol. For Allen's part, if it was anyone on his staff that tackled this guy then he could look bad, but not so much it was just supporters. My hunch is that it will be negligible though to the outcome of the election.

No, I do believe that is not legal. You can not tackle someone like that for just talking. He might have said some foul language that wasn't in the video or something, but they can not attack him or force him to leave the hotel.

Hm. Looks like it could be considered assault. Like BWB said, if the guys who threw the blogger out were on Allen's staff, it might look bad for him, but if they were just supporters, Allen doesnt have any control over them. Im sure his opponent, Webb, will throw this in some last minute ads though, so it might do some damage. He really should, since he got hit pretty hard with those excerpts from his books. That race over there in Virginia is exceedingly entertaining.

As far as this blogger goes...screeching at someone about "spitting on his first wife" isnt even remotely the same thing as asking a candidate where he stands on some issue...thats just being a douchebag. No sympathy for him.

but ddi he diserve to be chock slamed into the ground? I highly doubt that. I would have prefered a battle of words or at least allen to swing at him himself.

I never said he deserved to be thrown around, only that I have no sympathy for him. Oh...and that he was being a douchebag.

I disagree with you about the "battle of words." What, exactly, do you say to a guy screaming about you spitting on your first wife? Theres no real possibility for a battle of words there, unless you consider a guy getting told to "**** off" a solid debate.

As far as Allen taking a swing at the guy...well...it would be funny to see, but he would have committed instant political suicide, and there would be no need or really any opportunity for Webb to smear him with this, thus limiting the amount of enjoyment I get out of this race.

Allen and his people should have just blown this guy off. Instead, they gave him the attention he was looking for.

The man is not simply a 'student' he is a blogger (http://www.callingallwingnuts.com/) who hate the stated goal of:
"I’m also trying to “Roger and Me” George Allen whenever I can. And all of this is on top of a full 1L schedule at UVa…"

Allen is not to blame for the reaction of his supporters especially when this guy went there with the specific intent to incite such an incident to film it. Ambush journalism at its 'best'.
