    Default Units with poor morale?

    Is it really necessarry for some units to have low morale?
    The battles do take long, and if the player is careful, routs are rare... but I feel this is detrimental in siege battles for the player and AI, and also for the AI in field battles.

    Any intended changes?

    In EB1 every infantry unit had the description "good morale." That's no longer the case in EB2, but even still it seems more difficult for typical infantry units to rout in EB2. Or when they do, they are "fighting to the death."

    they only 'fight to the death' when they have no where to run. after you see them rout, un-surround them and they will start running =P.

    That's awesome. I have exactly done that. Deliberately withdraw my troops to cause the fight to death turn into a rout.

    No, they "fight to the death" when there is only one enemy unit opposing them from one side.

    Perhaps if that unit has enveloped them from all directions. Disengaging, while it costs you a few men, should cause the unit to route.

    I think that's a pretty reasonable solution and I wouldn't mind cutting down an enemy to pieces. However, if that were MY unit, I'd want them to run away and hopefully regroup rather than sit there, stuck, and get cut down.
