Tiberius Honorius Lentulus arrives at the house of senator Silanus and asks for an audience.
Veritas Temporis Filia
Outside the Villa of the esteemed Senator a group young members of the Aventine Collegium arrive, stepping out of the group emerges Lucius Tullius Varro eldest son of Titus dressed smartly and sporting the gold necklace that signifies his importance within the Aventine Collegium, it is known around Rome that Lucius is often sent to represent his fathers interests in relation to Political matters The many Denarii his father has spent on tutors affords Lucius a more ameable demenor especially in relation to the Patrician class, a convinient alternative to his fathers often course manners.
He knocks on the Villa Door of Aulus Rupilius Silanus and requests an audience with the Senator............

The Senator is greeted at the door by one of the many house servants, and is shown to the sitting room where wine and treats awaited them. Aulus was in another room dealing with election matters attempting to secure his seat, though he was quite confident with himself. within minutes Aulus greets his guests, and welcomes them to his home.
Welcome Senator to my humble home, I hope you were well received.
It was an unusual occurrence when Aulus would answer the door, though on this occasion he was near the door and promptly opened it.
May I ask who you young men are?
Upon seeing Lucius he recognized the senator
Ahh, welcome Senator Varro to what do i owe this honour
Aulus turns to his slave
Fetch us the wine, and bring it to my study

Lucius accepted Aulus welcoming cup of wine,
'Well recieved Senator'
Lucius then begins to outline the reason for his visit,
'My Father sends me on matters of buisness and state and apoligises for his absence, running of the Collegium is a time consuming affair. I come with an offer of friendship with hopes that they may be beneficial to both parties Patrician and Plebian alike. My Father seeks patronage as Tribune of the Plebs whilst at the same time we are looking to delevop a mining co-operative. My Father believes that the current rapid growth in the mining sector poses a unique oppurtunity'
Lucius pulls a roll of papyrus from the insert of his toga and hands it towards Aulus,
'Contained within this scroll is my Fathers plans for the Co-operative, each member will concentrate on developing a differing area of the Mining Industry or provide the finance to assist in their establishment, once a period of time has passed and each member has amassed a number of the specific talents for their respective mines holdings we will them share them between the other members of the collective. With each specific material being covered by a different member we will soon be able to expand into Contracts to develop industry such as Smiths, Coin Mints or construction projects, I'm sure you will recognise the benefits of such co-operative either in terms of aquiring what could be hard to find materials or using the specific materials for equipment or further trade outside the Co-Operative.'
Lucius sits back within his chair,
'As a Patrician you will recognise that certain financial outlets are beneath your time and dignity, for a small investment though Senator my Father can guarentee you a return plus a profit in these Plebian Industries such as Smiths and other factories from your investment. Together we can develop Roman Industry and share in the collective benefits they may bring. What I offer is entirely independant from the other, your support in my Father's running for Tribune does not reflect on your involvement in the Co-Operative but my Father believes that by giving your support it would be taken as a sign of good faith, something that would be valued if we decide to move together'

Aulus was stunned to hear that it was his son, and not the man himself they both looked so similar
I must say you looking much like your father dear boy, shockingly so.
Aulus mulled the proposal before speaking
It is uncommon for a Patrician to patronize a Pleb as it is frowned upon by the social elite. I shall not go deeper into the politics between patricians and plebeians but that patricians will not willingly give power to a pleb without they themselves gaining some. So I ask you what does your father have to offer me for my support.
I can tell your father is a smart man using his wealth as an opportunity for connections into grander circles but I have currently tied most of my financials within grain farming and will be unable to participate in your father's mining adventures.

Lucius sits attentively as Aulus speaks,
'How unfortunate Senator, but fully understandable if you are committed to development of your agricultural interests.'
Lucius sips on his wine on places it on a near by table,
'My Father see's the giving and recieving of gifts as the precussors to nearly all meaningful relationships, our commitment to development of a mining corperation is a full one therefore in return for your support of my Father in coming elections we will ensure that once our mines are established and we begin production of resources we will be able to offer you resources for Armour and such items as tokens of our commited friendship. I thank you on your kind words on my Father, perhaps this smart man as you kindly described a second ago will become the Plebian friend you need for construction projects or the expolitation of foreign commercial oppurtunities as they arise, likewise we hope that this intelligence you have ascribed would be ideally suited for holding important Plebian offices in the future.'

I may have the influence to have your father elected as tribune, but like in business everything has a cost. my cost is not expensive but it requires your father's undying loyalty. Should I have his loyalty, he will have his office.

Maximus also decided to visit this proud family.
One of the common slaves open the door and greets the young master showing him the way to the study where Aulus usually was in his spare time.
Welcome to my humble villa, I am Aulus Rupilius Silanus and who might you be?

Maximus was slightly offended by this greeting, who did know who he was? It was a shame! A tragedy, of course he had not done anything of note, but being born as he was, it was not required! "My name is Maximus Julius Libo, younger brother to Quaestor Lucius"

Marcus Drusus, having recently recovered from a bout of fever arrives with his son to see Aulus
Low speed, High Drag
The door is opened by one of the slave girls working within the villa, Aulus standing behind ready to greet his guests
Ah, Welcome Senator Drusus to what do I owe this pleasure? I see you have brought your son?

Drusus's son looks at the slave girls rather ample behind and his rather slaps him and gives him a dirty look and chuckles and turns to Aulus and says
Well I have come to discuss the recently military situtaition in the south, and what is to be done about that Lucius fellow attempting to claim dictatorship. I dont know, our armies were defeated, but the armies of the Samnites havent even reached the borders of the Latin League. Sure we took a beating, but this war isnt a threat to the existence of the Roman State like during the wars with the Gauls and it just doesnt seem right for a man to claim dictatorship.
Low speed, High Drag
Please sit down, I will get us some water.
Aulus brings a tray with a pitcher of cold water and 3 cups
The defeat is disappointing I know but we must push on nonetheless, Rome cannot afford to be on the losing side of the war. I myself have a deep respect for Senator Regulus he is more than competent and I have all the faith that he will bring an end to this war. I do agree with you in that the senate was hasty in its declaration of emergency but that is what happens when fear takes hold of people. The dice have been cast, If Regulus wins the campaign he will be declared a hero of Rome and will become untouchable. If Regulus loses the campaign, Rome is lost. It would be wise to befriend such a man because having as an enemy will have no good outcome.
