Welcome New and Returning Players!
Welcome to the game!
To this returning TRS players, we welcome you warming and invite you to help any new player!
To those who are new, some of what you see may strike you as confusing. This guide is meant to make the path clear to you and help you get your character and ideas off the ground. First of all, it is imperative that if you have a question to ask it. PM myself, any other moderator or just ask the question in the chat thread. We want to help you so you understand the game.
What Should you do first?
1. First, you should register your character. Feel free to be creative. Add some backstory, determine your character's age, his family situation, where he comes from etc. At this stage it would also be advisable to skim over the general rules, even if they don't make sense as of yet. Reading the rules will give you a better understanding of how the game functions and may help you form some objectives you want to complete. New characters get 5,000 denarii and 5 auctoritas points.
2. The second important bit is to create a residence for your character within Rome, so that he may be visited or contacted by other senators. Within your residence you may include biographical information, backstory, family history, and any other related information you desire. Your home thread MUST include all of your Senator's economic details, including anything related to assets, income, personal finances and anything related to money. You can copy an already existing format or make one of your own. It may be a good idea to use your home thread to meet new Senators by inviting them for a meeting or a dinner party. Within the City of Rome itself, various other non-political opportunities for gambling, worship, or RP are available. All of these opportunities, usually stickied threads, are open RP. using these threads would be a good way to increase your senator's popularity with either the plebeians or the ruling class.
3. Once you have taken care of the necessary parts of character creation, it is advisable to orient yourself politically. The Capitoline Hill houses the political epicenter of the Republic. In the Forum, the Senate meets, legislation is proposed and voted on, the movements of the Republic's armies and fleets are tracked, the Republic's finances are recorded, and opportunistic senators may address the public face to face by delivering speeches from the Rostra. The laws of the Republic and other very important cultural information is stored in The Constitution thread, along with the election schedule for new magistrates.
