Biography: Gaius served as a low ranking magistrate and thus barely managed to secure his appointment to the Senate. Gracchus represents a growing number of men in Rome that challenge the typical modes and men of power in the Republican scheme. They are often criticized as undermining an ancient tradition of Roman authority, but in his mind he merely seeks to legitimize his entry into this class of rulers using other justifications. The ability to hold office comes from wealth, and newly wealthy plebeian families are now able to produce men of means that can seek an education and leisure activities like their patrician counterparts. Increased Roman prosperity now enables them to leave the farm and seek political careers.

Maximus Julius Libo is the younger brother of Lucius Julius Libo. He was only 8 when his father died in a raid. His older brother took over the role of patriarch of the family. Maximus was still a child back then, but now he is the same age as Lucius was when he took over the role of leader of the family. Not much of a fighter himself, Maximus thinks he has other means to fight political battles. He too dreams of a good position - something he is entitled to, due is high birth. He is born to luxurly and wealthy and really hasn't accomplished something in his life as of yet. He looks down on the plebs and woman. He is a lover of the masculine form and loves to watch the gladiator shows and attending parties, when he usually gets really drunk.
He both loves and hates his older brother for being the alpha male in the family. He usually tries to set up their younger sister Lucretia up against his older brother.

BIOGRAPHY: Agrippa Menenius is a mature Roman, with a particularly fine hair, a distinctive trait of the Menenia gens that earned them their cognomen back in the early days of the Republic. Slender, tall and with fair complexion, he is well preserved from the time being and is still diligent and energetic. A scar crosses his chin, thin and pale, made by a Samnite sword back on his juvenile days. Proud, patient and astute, Agrippa is a prominent member of the Senate, increased by the fame and achievements of his gens. However his family’s fortune has decayed and their wealth is diminishing, partly because bad luck and the clumsy administration of his forefathers, all to the despair of Agrippa, still his properties are large and providing sufficient income to maintain a senator’s life style and prerogatives. Agrippa could be considered less conservative than his fellow senators and has a keen interest on the foreigner’s customs, like those of the southern Greeks, even if still he considers them decadent compared to the superior and austere way of his Roman forefathers. Still he is staunchly aristocratic and believes firmly in the supremacy of the patricians over the populace.

The story of Titus Tullius Varro is one of astonishing rise and equal revulsion, off the back of his father who first began the rise of the Tullius name with his nefarious loan sharking enterprise in around the Aventine Titus has not only expanded his late father's more questionable insterests (His Father Erastes was killed during a gambling quarrel in the Greek quarter) but also begin the move into more legitimate enterprises. With revenue from his Loan Shark and prostitution rings higher than ever Titus due to his ruthless managment of the Aventine Collegium Titus has also purchased a number of Iron Founderies and Blacksmiths which provide Arms and Equipment to the many individuals who take up arms in the defence of Rome. This is the legitiamte face of the Varro family empire, however many in Rome are well aware of Titus more questionable interetests.

Titus recognises that his position as head of a Collegium renders him being able to climb the Political and social ladder as highly unlikely, he therefore is pinning his families hopes on his young sons Lucius and Marius, sparing no expense on private tutors to educate his sons in Rhetoric, Philosophy and Martial training so that they might one day take the step up the ladder as yet closed off to the Varro's. Whilst Lucius has shown promise in his studies Marius is more akin to his Father and late Grandfather Erastus demonstrating a cruel and violent streak.

Titus is a short well built man, with broad shoulders and a common face and accent, he is rarely seen without a host of Aventine Collegium toughs who guard him 24/7. Known to frequent the Aventine Collegium as his primary residence and place of buisness. His late wife's recent unexpalined illness and quick passing means he is looking for a new wife......................

In short Titus is a dangerous and ambitous man, his postion in the Aventine Collegium means he is a staunch Plebian within the politics of Rome, respected and feared by Patrican and Plebian alike his desire is to see more powers given to those less fortunate then the Senatorial elite something that would allow Lucius or Marius to take advantage of and facilitate the Varro's rise in Roman Society. He does however recognise his position in the established order and will not directly challange those above him, he is however more than willing to assist his social betters for immediate profit or advantage.

Bio: Titus Aelius Licinius is a relatively new face in the Roman Senate having only recently earned his appointment after serving as a local magistrate in the Roman held city of Veii. Hailing from a relatively minor family from the formerly Etruscan city, Titus has come to Rome to make a name for himself and his family. He is an ambitious man who values the power and influence that wealth and fortune can bring a man and he will do everything in his power to gain more of it. Titus has surely lofty goals in city and world controlled by the Patrician class but in his mind, he has determination and willpower to achieve them.

No one entirely knows where he stands, but most assume he's a traditionalist like his predecessors.

To distinguish him from his esteemed, traditionalist grandfather, Quintus Aurelius Orestes 'Major' (called Orestes the Older), this Quintus Aurelius Orestes is 'Minor', commonly called Orestes the Younger. His grandfather was a senator like himself, and many in the city and the senate probably believe the Younger Quintus is just an extension of the Older.

The son of a rather successful merchant from Ostia who would earn a local magisterial position with duties regarding the port of Ostia, and somehow would gain a position in the Senate after his tenure as a Magistrate, perhaps due to his father bribing certain people before his recent death, leaving Horatius in charge of his family and the remains of his father's mercantile ventures of which there are few. Unlike many who likely aspire to gain political power, Horatius cares more about profit than political power. (wip)

Bio:
His father was a respected man, if only for working hard to keep what little he had. He earned his seat in the Senate after years of hard labour, building solid friendships in the process. However, upon his death, Gnaeus became bitter for many years, wishing no part in the politics which had claimed his father from him.

He was set never to enter the Senate chambers until his surprise marriage to Calpurnia, the sister of the fellow Plebs who lived alongside them. She has successfully persuaded him to take his place among the old men of the senate.

However, Gnaeus does not yet know what he wants to achieve, aside from making his family's name live on in history, forever.

Gaius Asinius Naso

Naso is a tall and strong man, of a muscular build and well proportionated. He wears his dark brown hair short and he shaves his beard. His face is quite simetrical but the exception is his big and crooked nose, a characteristic of the Asinii Naso.
His eyes are big and light brown, the colour of honey, and look tired.

He comes from an unremarkable plebeian family, the Asinii Naso. Some of his ancestors were staunch populists and some were devoted traditionalists but none excelled much.
Naso himself is a moderate, he hasn't got a definite political position but thinks plebeians should have the same chances as patricians. He strives to do the best for his family and the Republic, even if it means a personal sacrifice.

Naso dislikes the pompous lifestyle of some and spends his days quietly in his house and in the Senate. He is disciplined, wears simple clothing and lives on a spare diet. Some would call his lifestyle austere and stoic

Biography:

Lucius Licinius Varrus was born on the Ides of Faunus (February 13) in Rome, in 373 BC, before the week long celebration of Paternalis. In commemoration of this auspicious moment, Quintus Licinius Varrus named his eldest son after one of his esteemed ancestors, Lucius Licinius, who arrived during the reign of the Roman King Lucius Tarquinius Priscus from Etruria. Quintus Licinius Varrus served as military tribune during the Gallic Invasion of Italy under the command of Dictator and Consul Marcus Furius Camillus, but he, along with the army, was unable to prevent the sack of Rome by Brennus' Senones. Barring this humiliation, Quintus Licinius Varrus served admirably as an Aedile and Quaestor of the Roman Republic, and encouraged his sons to follow suit.

Much like his father, Lucius Licinius Varrus delayed marriage to pursue an early entry into politics, and has hoped to marry above his status in Roman Society. The Licinia represent a branch of newly wealthy and bourgeoise Plebeians who are eager in self-improvement, but also sensitive to the needs of the poor.
