No idea sorry, Makanyane might know as she has CS, try PM'ing her..
I think the alpha in Png's is embedded, at least there has to be one so that sounds probable, which might leave him with the same problem. We shall see..
What CS options are we talking about, exactly? I don't know of any settings that would alter the alpha channel outside of maybe changing the image mode (of which some modes don't support alphas).
As for png, it's a lossless format just like targa and you don't have to fiddle with anything in max or ps to get it to work without the bg, so that's what I tend to use out of habit.
What CS options are we talking about, exactly?Anyway, yeh easier to use Png's if that works than worry about why PsCS doesn't..No idea sorry, Makanyane might know as she has CS, try PM'ing her..
Have you unpacked the animations?, if so, import animation rather than Cas (in 3d max) ..
OK, I've unpacked the animations using vercingetorix's extractor. Now when I go to import the particular skeleton I get an error message. It seems that 3DMax is looking for a CAS file.
Soory for being such a pain, I feel like a kindergarten kid here, but how do I overcome this?
Thanks again.
No worries..
This tutorial is probably easier to follow..

Sorry to be a pain again, but my problem is still that I cannot import an animation file into 3DMax. I have unpacked the animations file OK, but when I try to import one, 3DMax is always looking for a CAS file. When I click on all files, the animation files then appear.
So I click on one of them and then get an error when importing becasue of wrong file.
This is frustrating. Do I need to convert the animation files to CAS files.
I did follow the tutorial that you posted.
Thanks Again.
I'll open Max and look, I have a feeling animation files are cas files, but can't recall off the top of my head. What happens if you add the animation file?
Yup, animation files are Cas files.. Try loading
SPM 32 stand to stand ready.cas
The basic pose for infantry UI cards..
Hmm, mine do. Try tools/folder options in your windows browser, you might just have the extensions turned off. Not sure if that would cause an error though..
I looled in the tools/folder options, and found that there is no file extension CAS.
I altered one of the animation files, fast_javelin so that it had an CAS extension.
When I went to import the file, 3DMax could see it, but when I did press import I got the following on screen message:
MaxScript Rollout Handler Exception
-Unknown Property; "rotation" in undefined.
I have a feeling that for some reason, when I extract the animation files they are not being created with a CAS extension.
Is there any chance that you could email me say the archer, javelin , swordsman and spearman files so that I can see if your files work?
Thanks
That's probably because there is a hidden .cas and the one you added, .cas.casMaxScript Rollout Handler Exception
-Unknown Property; "rotation" in undefined.
What I mean is go to tools/folder options and see if ''hide extensions for known file types'' is ticked. also you could look in file types and see if Cas is a recognised file type, if not you can add it (new), I think anyway..
