I have a few problems making my UI cards.
When I'm rendering unit in 3dmax and them saving it as tga file picture looks very dark and have low quality. Varios little components missing, too big pixels etc.
How I can adjust lihting and quilaty? I suppose better do this in photoshop because 3dmax looks more complicated for me
Please advice me which tools I should use and which alinements are best.
Thanks in advance!
In photoshop go to image/adjustments/brightness and contrast. Slide them up to suit your preference.
Thanks Halie!
You're save me lot of time
Edit:
One more question. How I can do unit card for mounted units, because there are two different models or horse and rider.
Somehow connect them in 3dmax?

you make both seperate, you first make the unit who sits on him as a idle position, then you take one of the horse, then go into photoshop and put em on each other and there, you got a mounted unit card,
thats how i do it, if someone has an easier way itll be much appreciated if someone told me

hey im still stuck on the photoshop part. i can't copy and past images for some reason. then when i use the wand and place the image over the grass pic, its invisible, only the outline shows and im completely lost in this part.
Now we have to make only the unit and the grass to be visible by the game. We have to use the Alpha Channels to make this. So, hit the Channels tab, go to the bottom of it
and activate the Alpha Channel by simply clicking on it. Select the black color next and using the brush or the pencil, hide the areas around your unit carefully. You know what is visible and what is not since
hidden parts of your image are displayed in red color.
Are you saving your Max renders as tga's ???
Just wanted to ask: has anybody tried importing MTW's unit/buildings info cards to M2TW? MTW's art was so cool and had that cruel medieval mood. Unfortunately all unit/building info pics are in strange bif format and I cannot convert them to tga.
Can anyone help me out?

You'd be better off asking in the MTW2 forums, i think i heard of converters for some MTW2 files..couldn't swear to it though..

Then you should only need to drag them into a template and resize. You can always make them a bit different to the Ca ones...There the _info cards, the smaller ones i didn't add a BG to..
but everytime i drag it onto the unit card its invisible. i only see an outline.
So you can see it in the tga, but not when you drag it over???...odd, take a screen, or better still zip up the tga and your base and post them here, I'll take a look when i get home later today..
Yeh, i took a look, well main problem is you haven't saved them with an alpha channel from 3d max, you need to do that so there is no background...Post 2 and 8 in this thread tell you how to do that...I think, you save them as 32 bit...so the alpha is embedded.
Your unit looks good btw..![]()
well i think i got it, still needs work though
