Beautiful artwork !

lol, still with the oversized unit cards.
Don't fall for the hype guys, remember the footage for pre release rome II?
This is my original review for Rome II, posted in October 2013.
Rome II: Totally Casual.
Streamlined features, zero diplomacy, no family tree, lack of character progression, magical transports, complete lack of battle, siege and campaign AI, blob style fighting formations, 3minute battles, magical fire burning torches, zero seasons, 1 turn per year, awful performance on high end systems, monotonous and incredibly tedious campaign,
A year later, sadly, not much has changed.
UI are better. Classical style of Total War.
I like units cards and buildings. But buckground is too much grey and light green. I prefer more warm colors.

Many of my past contributions in the time from 2011-2017 will contain content that now show broken links. Unfortunately I had to delete all pictures linked on TWC that were hosted on imageshack.us. Read why
If you are missing anything of interest, please let me know. Sorry for any inconvinience caused.
I love their new religious edict 'ecumenical matters'. Clearly someone at CA has a sense of humour

I feel that R2 had the most hype and marketing of any previous TW game (saw more adverts for it than any previous one) and like it was an attempt to break out of what was mostly a niche market and make it big by going more "mainstream." Hence the use of catapults for all factions (looks cool, chuck it in) and the unit cards; I feel they were supposed to wow and draw in people because they would have felt "historical." Basically I feel Rome 2's "majority audience" was new people and so it was marketed/designed with that in mind.
As for your second comment, I'm in two minds about it myself. I think I read somewhere that it's released in Feb 2015, and while I love the period as well as the look of things I don't feel I have enough trust in CA to buy another game from them, especially if it's anything close to the price of a R2. I'll likely get it on discount, preferably after it's been patched.
Omg I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to have it!!!
Looks really good, I love the dark ages kind of era. Probably be a little bit more cautious this time though. I prefer the UI background but I was actually a fan of the original rome 2 style unit cards/building icons.
cristians divide to catholics and orthodox after the schism of 1054 A.D
Kind of surprised they have the religion of Manichaeism. Because little records show of their existence but it was influential in Persia, Central Asia and as far as china to the point when a Chinese Emperor(forgot his name) outlawed Manichaesim in the country and many were killed.
