CA Developer Icon Total War™: ATTILA Announced

    Hi all,

We’re delighted to say that we’ve just announced the next title, Total War: ATTILA, live on stage at EGX in London, where the game is also available to try, now, on the show floor.

The lead developers on the Total War: ATTILA Project Team will be doing a live stream on Twitch (front page – www.twitch.tv) from 5pm BST, so be sure to tune in for more information on the game. Otherwise, be sure to stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for the latest information and news on the game as development progresses.

Here’s the official press release for more information on Total War: ATTILA:

    Your World Will Burn
    Total War™
    : ATTILA Announced
The next thrilling entry in the Total War series takes players to the brink of the apocalypse

San Francisco and London – September 25, 2014 – SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe, Ltd. today announced Total War: ATTILA, the next instalment in the multi award-winning Total War series of strategy games.
The Dark Ages approach. A time of famine, disease and war, where refugees in their thousands flee from a sweeping tide of destruction and death. Desperate barbaric tribes rally against the ailing might of a dying and divided Roman empire; the light of civilization gutters and dims. In the great steppes of Scythia, a vast and terrifying force gathers, led by a warrior king whose thirst for conquest is utterly unequalled.
The Scourge of God, the very herald of the apocalypse, Attila the Hun.
    ---
Total War: ATTILA introduces exciting new gameplay mechanics which improve and add to numerous core turn-based and real-time Total War systems. The world will darken around you as Attila’s forces descend on your homeland creating a unique vision of survival strategy.
“With Total War: ATTILA we will create a Total War game that will challenge and enthrall fans of the series” said Janos Gaspar, project lead on Total War: ATTILA. “We’re reintroducing some features that fans have been asking for, such as family trees and skill trees, and improving many of the core aspects of Total War we know are important to them. But to really bring the period to life, we’re building on these foundations with many new strategic features for them to consider, such as advanced street-fighting, civilians, complete settlement destruction and dynamic fire that can rage across a city as armies clash. We want to push players to the limits of their skill to survive against the odds, and to love every minute of it.”
    ---
Total War: ATTILA is due for release in 2015 on Windows PC and Mac. For more information, please visit www.totalwar.com.

Looks nice. A simple question that I guess it wont be answered exactly, when in 2015? early or late 2015?

Well, early 2015 is in 6 months. So I guess late. As in Christmas 2015

Ehh... it was built over a century after Attila died. So I guess unless "Attila" is a misnomer and it stretches throughout the dark ages HS won't be builtable. I expect a Napoleon-kind of expansion game; 25-30 years or so.

This annoys me after the crap navies partially because of no rowers in rome2. Now we seem to have enough power for spare non combatants.

Still no supply lines???? But we can burn cities instead... great. I will be looking for a COMMON precedent for this in that time especially if the romans are allowed to do it. Happy to be wrong and learn something though.
Colours look even more horrible and the lighting still shimmers (check the town names in the campaign map) and the units are too dark. From the lighting on the troops you would think
there was no sun out EVER. First total war I have not been excited about even though I like the subject matter.

Also what is with it being presented as a new game? This for all intents and purposes even if it is stand alone is just an expansion. It will not really build much upon rome2 and its assets at the core I would say.

One thing is for sure Rome2 will not be getting any more features. Just some more skin jobs is my guess and a bug patch or two.

But they have a rather large well paid marketing department now.... progress
I liked it when they were just geeks in a back room without all the fakery and gawdy fanfare telling us how great things were by twisting things.
But I guess that was why they released a fix just before this announcement... otherwise there would have been hell to pay.
What if they had no expansion to release? No fix?

Kill the marketing department and used the $500,000 you save to give me my precious naval warfare more than a balance patch.

P.S. I am a grumpy bum tonight. Just ignore me. Am enjoying the new emperor edition campaign.

There's TW: Attila concept art which shows Constantinople with both Hagia Sophia and Hagia Eirene, so looks like we'll be seeing them in game.

I never see this picture (yet) but I can't wait to build and defend Constantinople and above all, the most beautifull building of that time, the Hagia Sophia.

But I'm curious how they will implement civilians (I guess in siege). Their role, if we have to protecte them etc.

Anyway, thank you CA, that time frime is very interesting (even if it's the end of the Western Roman Empire and the end of Antiquity...)
The description Last of the Romans (Ultimus Romanorum) has historically been given to any man thought to embody the values of Ancient Roman civilization —values which, by implication, became extinct on his death. It has been used to describe a number of individuals.
Flavius Belisarius (505?–565), one of the greatest generals of the Byzantine Empire and one of the most acclaimed generals in history. He was also the only Byzantine general to be granted a Roman Triumph.

Im that disappointed I actually made an account so I could vent my disappointment,

The time era is too close to rome 2 so basicly there just copying an pasting into changing skins an calling it a new game. Its released next year I heard so its going to take them less than a year to make an release it. Doesn't sound too different to me.

Was really hoping for Med 3 or maybe empire 2. Hell I secretly wanted it to be warhammer total war but I just don't think that will ever happen even though they have the license for the game. I just don't think the interest is there which is a shame because I waited for the announcement of the new game and my reaction was huh..... that's it.

I doubt I will buy it unless I get it in a sale in two years time. I don't know what has happened to CA but meh im not buzzed by this announcement like I was for rome 2 (learned my lesson).
