    Default Beta-Test Coordination Thread

Hey everyone who's downloading and testing the RS beta, let's coordinate our efforts here so we're not all covering the same ground. I'm going to start by focusing on the Scythian campaign and then play some with the Dacians and Thracians. We can ignore Britain for sure (it's out) and put Nemedia on the backburner (it may also be removed).

Whatever faction(s) you want to focus on as you start playing, post it here. We'll start a new thread for feedback, this one is just to make sure we don't duplicate our time and effort too much. As you're playing, make note of anything obviously wrong, but also things you think would improve the mod (new unit suggestions, unit name changes, tweaking unit stats, faction start dispositions, city size, you name it), and post in the Beta feedback thread.

Its early morning in Britain, gotta go to school; but will download it tonight.
Probably play as Epirus and Syracuse first; as well as testing loads of custom battles. Plan to let the AI take control of the whole thing over night as well a few times, see if there any patterns or anything.

Just downloading now....it's a bit slow though. Will probably play some custom battles then Romans - I know how they handle in most of the other mods better than any other factions.

edit- God this download's taking long!!! It's been going for 6 hours and it's still not done, 2 hours to go still and i'm on broadband!!!

Could be a bad sprite.....let me know if it happens again. Also, what greek faction would help. What unit setting were you playing? Large, Huge? Never played it on Huge, my Vcard can't take it!!

Sorry for no feed back yet; started downloading as soon as i got home; still another Eight hours to go ( I also have broad band).

Well despite not having played Roma Surrectum my first suggestion is to find a faster download server if its possible: it seems I'm not the only one thats having to wait a while for it to finish, and I'm pretty sure that if this is released with a download time of eight hours many people wont have the patience to download this.

I don't understand that, it only took 2 hours for me to UPLOAD it, and my upload is nowhere near my download with DSL.
Plus, I've downloaded other dtuff from Filefront without issues. I look at the site tonite and see if I can figure out what's going on. Sorry. Looked like a good place...

I'll moniter it, but it appears that the file is using 7GB of bandwidth right now...that's problably why. You're all downloading it at once....

Took me less than an hour to dl last night via cable modem. I imagine that geographic location also has an impact on speed, I'm on the east coast.

Im in the UK, will that make it longer? Its gone up to 14 hours!!! When I first started downloading it was going at a reasonable rate of 50KB/sec - now its doing 6KB/sec!
Well, i look forward to testing this mod when i finally get it. Gotta make up for lost time!

When playing as the Romans in the non senate, bringing up the senate offices brings a CTD.
Might be obvious, just thought I would point that out.

Hmmm....I've clicked that button often in the no-senate campaigns to make sure it DIDN'T ctd. Never did. Had you previuosly been playing a Senate campaign without exiting RTW? I've noticed before that switching maps while your in RTW without closing out of the game leaves some kind of 'residual memory' of the previous campaign. For example, if you switch between the BIG map and the Mundus map you'll get an error when you exit the game that it can't find a region (Africa or Zeugitania, because the Region Carthage is located in is named differently on the two maps) Happens every time. Did you install into a clean RTW with no other mods? Was the button grayed out? Should've been. Otherwise, don't click it.

Yeah, I have a clean RTW. And it might be that I played a senate campaign, exited and tried the non senate, so thats what probably did it.

One thing I have got to say, I am loving the new cities on the campaign map. Are you going to make/include a barbarian or egyptian style city?

Besides that, so far I have only two critisism's. The first being that the old banners show up at various places. So far I have only seen the old ones at diplomacy (in which Rome-Egypt have the newer banners), battle screen (below), and at the top of the screen when your turn is over.

The second is that Rome is far to powerfull. I only played in one actual battle, were three of my legionary IV hastati (3 exp I believe) sent 7 powerfull (I think thats what its called) phalanx routing in about half a minute. Once they were gone I noticed there were hundreds of their dead and only a few of mine dead.
