The lucky winner of the Gold Code Day Competition is Laverick!

This was his wonderful entry:

The anticipation grips you, from the moment you place the CD into the drive. Your mind is buzzing with excitement as you meticulously go over your various strategies. Whether it be tackling marauding barbarian hordes to overthrowing the Roman Senate ultimately its up to you...

Finally the seemingly endless wait at the loading screen is over and your empire is before you. What to do next? Should you bring up a force of 1000 men and wage war on another faction? Or bunker down focus on your economy and then reek havoc on the world!?

This is why I love the total war series. There are so many options to choose from in the never ending campaign for ultimate power. The superb ascetical qualities of the graphics and the astounding strategically elements of the campaign grip you, pull you into the Total War Series and never let go.

As a result of this, Laverick will be going along to the Gold Code day at SEGA HQ Europe on the 8th of November, where he will get to play the full game, and also take home a Special Edition Box set version of Medieval II Total War.

Also going along will be me on behalf of TWc staff, 2 people from .org and 2 from RTwHeaven.

This is all a result of TWC's new Gold Affiliate status with CA.

Now for what i will do as a result of this wonderful opportunity from CA. The day after the event, i will be writing a review for TWC that will cover every aspect of the game: graphics, the campaign, diplomacy, religion, ai, moddability. Hopefully it will provide all the info people will need on the game, and if not just ask for more as i will have the full game by then.

Oh, and i should have said. Thank you to all who submitted entries. Im sorry that you could not all come along to the event, but i hope you are content with the knowledge the game comes out in the UK 2 days after the event.

Its all good, i can pre-order Medieval II: Total War Collectors Edition from GAME now. and focus on my studys :tooth:

Firstly, congratulations to Laverick. A nice para, to be sure.

However, as I read through I thought it looked a bit lengthy, and Microsoft Word has confirmed that your entry is 148 words, 48 longer than it could have been (I believe the word cap was 100 words.) I don't mean to detract from your 'victory,' but it seems hardly fair to me that in breaking the competition rules you have won, whilst others who abided by them may have had to remove large portions of their entries in order to adhere to said rules.

Oh, and as I side note I live in New York - so dont think I'm trying to get myself into this by beating on you or anything. Its merely an observation.

Agreed, my original attempt was significantly over one hundred words; so I edited it down to exactly the limit. Never mind, de gustibus non est disputandum.
