Thread: Medieval Kingdoms Total War: First Release!

Incidentally I have many units in my current rosters that are almost exactly like the unit types you've shown me. The big thing I'll need to adjust is the equipment apparently but that's beside the point. So I assume you'll get to more faction unique units soon? This info is certainly helpful though so thanks for that.

As i say in my first post your close to perfection, so it's normal that their only few littles things to changes. I had start by the beginning to correct all little mistakes i had seen.

So i will talk a little about the specificity i was thinking about:

France , Holly Empire, and England will have an unique heavy infantry for each: (they all have heavy swordmens)

Macemens for France, they are the elite infantry of the king and three different type of knight.

The Holly Empire has famous spearmens so i think heavy spearmen is a good idea, their heavy infantry is the best in Europe because they are a little bit advanced technologically (primitive iron chapel for example end better helm for the knight) and normally they haven't mounted sergeant.

For england i think heavy axemens will be great because of the saxon past and their monted sergent are very light (Hobelar), we can also give them heavy archer.

For the Kingdom of castile will have specificity on their knight (shield are rounded down and they wear open helmet) ,mounted sergeant which launch javelin, their melee infantry will launch javelin too and their slinger peasant will be different with a rounded shield.

I propose also to create heavy crossbow men for France, Italy and Holly empire.

I hope we will find other specificity to improve this fabulous mod. I hope i will help you because you've already made a fantastic job!

So I've been looking at some of those albums you linked my way earlier in the thread. Between that and the armor references you posted here I'm trying to adjust the equipment on the various units to make them more specific to the starting year. Here's an example, an English Longbowmen unit. This is not the Yeomen Archer unit currently in the mod but a slightly lighter earlier era version.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I tried to make them look clearly English but not making inaccurate. What do you think?

I think some of those pieces would look really good on sergeants, but for a longbowman (especially an early era longbowman), they are incredibly expensively equipped. I'd get rid of all the chainmail and many of the helmets. After all, really only knights and professional men at arms could afford such armor in this period. I think it's the aventails in particular that make them look so aristocratic.

I really like the shorter "byrnie" style chain shirts, though! And the stumpy helmets are very English, too. I could see those put to great use on other units.

I think it’s a good idea to want to creat primitive longbowmens,

The problem is, the longbow dosn’t exist in England at this period, it has discovered by the english army during the war of 1282. It has myabye already exist in wales in 1212 but nobody know because we had no evidence.

At this period, in europ there’s two type of bow:

The short bow, principaly used for hunting and sometimes for war:

and the composite one bring back by the crusade:

This one is much better and powerfull, used principally for war!

The red cross already exist at this period but she ‘s shorter and wearinf by the crusaders and not by the english in particular. SHe look like that:

However it’s likely than england begun to have a bowmen’ss tradition before discovering longbow. I think heavy bowmens is a good idea. If they wearing such an heavy equipment they are the best of the best.

Concerning the equipement of the bowmens you'll show i see nothing bad!

I just wonder what is this type of amour? i have never see something like that before.

For this pediod the shoes are too tall, here a few exemple of 13e shoes. You can also color their pant and their gambeson if you want to creat more difference.

Personally i had equiped them with dagger more than maces.
(The maces you’ve mod are too big: here an example http://www.aurifabrum.com/medieval-mace-p-18486.html the head is 6 x7 cm)

One last point, the «chapel de fer» you call it kettle hat.

    http://dawnofchivalry.wikispaces.com/Kettle+Hat

It apear latter in 1240 aproximatly exept for the german empire wich have primitive one, reserved for the elite of heavy infantry:

@MagicCuboid, you’re rigth a this period a chanmail is very expensive only the richer can buy one it cost about 2 horses for us today it’s the price of a luxury car like a ferrary.
But surprisely their is picture showing heavy bowmen wearing chainmails:

The good news is, that picture is british!

Here's the thing, Arthaud: even though the campaign will begin in 1212, it is going to go all the way to 1453. The unit rosters in the first release are indeed trying to focus more on the earlier stages, but are not strictly bound to 1212 alone.

We're planning on 2 TPY, summer and winter. That will make the campaign last a solid 482 turns.

Rome Total war 2 says this mod is for an older version of the game. I do not know if it is because I have the empire version Emperor Edition or not. The mod works fine in campaign mode but you can not get to the battle part of game. From what I have seen though the mode looks good so far just maybe fix the tech tree and unit cards and let me know what is going on with the mod itself. My game is on steam.

what exactly makes you think there will not be any arab factions to play. apparently you somehow missed the factions list, the factions previews and descriptions, unit previews and unit cards already presented for this mod where several middle eastern factions are represented.

Hey guys, the latest patch (16) broke the mod for some reason. I've attempted to fix it on my own, but simply can't seem to narrow down the issue. The game itself won't even launch if its enabled now.

I'm updating the mod for the patch but I'm not adding the new content yet until we have more done. The Moddb link will be updated shortly.

did anyone put up material on Cumans? All the youtube battles are on western westerns.. I'd like to see the Cumans in action.

"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."
