help installing 2 copies of rome!

how do I install a fresh copy of rome total war when I allready have one copy installed? when I try to install It says am I sure I want to delete all files and then reinstall.. but I want to install rome a second time so I can have a mod and I dont have a second drive. how do I do it?

You don't install two copies.

1.Go to wherever you installed the game. Make sure its a clean version of RTW.
2.Hit Ctrl+c
3.Go to where you want the new file to be
4.Press Ctrl+v
5.Go out, buy a donut or watch a movie
6.Come back and you should have two copies now. Find the mod you want, and install it into the 2nd file.

I'm trying to install Europa Barbarium, I had Rome Total Realsim installed in my current version BUT..

I think I messed everything up.. I got too unpatient and decided to see what happens when I click ok.. it went ahead and uninstalled the game. so I reainstalled it, fresh I thought.. but no! when I clicked install patch 1.2 it said I allready had it installed.. so I installed Europa Barbarium, seemed to work when I clicked it.. but then the screen went black and went back to windows totally closing the game. didnt even get to the menu. tried it a couple of times same thing.. so I guess it didnt uninstall right, so I went to add/remove programs and deleted the game again, saw Europa Barbarium in add/remove too so I uninstalled that too. installed a fresh copy.. same story. so now I have an unplayable total war installed.

I think there are still rome total realsim files installed somewhere but I dont know where or how to remove them completely...

ps: thanks for the help, I'll try copying the data, I'll say if it worked.

Did you get the gold edition of the game? If so, you can't play EB

Well. I *heard* you could get the data from 1.2 copy and paste it to overwrite 1.5 and play EB. I heard that method has more then the captain reinforcement bug/ctds(crash to desktop) Remember, I heard about this but I'm not sure about it. Ask in the EB forums.

Gold comes patched up to 1.5

EB is probably gonna be released before christmas, so do you wanna wait for it? Its for 1.5, means it works with your Gold Ed.
Play other mods meanwhile..

now the condition of my game is even worse.. I cant even play gold anymore.. I really messed the game up now. reinstalling wont fix it either cause I allready reinstalled twice before that. is there no way that I can totally remove all game files from the computer without reformating my hard drive??

I'll wait for it yeah, but now not even rtr gold works..

Alright. Does it give you an option of "uninstalling" it and will this work. Do that(if it works) then manually send the other files you copied to the recycle bin and the folder you installed RTW in(I think yours is CA Assembly) send to the recycle bin. Delete all of those and then see if you can then install Rome

i've tried something similar on my second attempt, I deleted the activision folder, then went to add/remove programs, uninstalled rome total war and europa barbarum (it was there too) and then I reinstalled and it worked without a mod installed, so I installed europa barbarum thinking it would work but it didnt. I uninstalled europa barbarum and vanilla worked again. so I decided to install rome total realsim gold again thinking it would work, but now it doesnt. and there is no option to uninstall it like europa barbarum has.

You installed RTR Gold? Patch 1.5 uses RTRPE(it is in a subforum)
