I would like to be part of decision making system of TWC and do my best to contribute it, unfortunately A) TWC community didn't recognize me as rightful citizen thus alienated me from site management politic B) I was not aware of this thread existence till it pop out on the right side of my screen this morning.

I do not put discussions like this in the Curia. I use the Q & S which is open to everyone.

This brings me to the next issue, visibility of crucial discussions on site. As some of us said earlier, most of our members are visiting site sections that match their interest and don't care much about other parts of forum.
I will take my example, subforums I visit and like the most are ULO, Europa Universalis ,DD and various mods . Rest is generally not my concern and I am perfectly content with it.
However when it comes to debating about crucial things to TWC future, like this one, I would like to take part. To listen others opinions and give mine, and together with other members help in making best possible decision. I assume other members would like that too.
Problem is ,again from my experience, visibility of crucial discussions. I agree something of similar importance like this deserves special place. It should literary stab your eyes when you enter TWC. My suggestion is either enlarging announcement section or putting it between banners and

The announcements generally get ignored by large parts of the TWC population. Earlier I mentioned the last announcement I posted about shutting the site down for a few hours to do some work at the datacenter, and that one only had like 500 views and there were hardly any replies at all even though it was posted in big red letters.

It does on Windows tablets. At least the one I'm using which is running on a full Windows 8 OS. 1366x768

Perhaps I'm seeing things, but it looks to me like the "My profile" page has changed a bit (apart form the sidebar of course).
I use the TWCenter style. I have some trouble reading the text in the tabs like "My activity", "Visitors Messages" etc. Was the lettering always in white? I am old, but I don't recall having to put my face closer to the monitor to read it.
Also, wasn't the members rep displayed above the Avatar?

Probably some of the text changes I made to the sidebar translated to that part of the site, which is also technically a sidebar. The CSS there also pulls from a section called postbit, so I will have to look at that as well.

Great! now that the main issue was solved (losing posts area) now we can get into details of what is shown in the bar , i dunno if it could incorporate like last threads you've posted in or even your last 5 subscribed threads?

Well it isn't "solved" by any means, but we are working on it. I don't really want to get into pulling stuff from individual users at this point with it.

you should add a censor on the search in the sidebar Certain searches are worse than others.

toher than that i think that near everyone searchesfor the great war is cool. can there be added a comma between each searchword? is hard to discern if the final three words are 1 or 3 words.

I cant change that widget, we do not own it. I can disable/enable features on it and that is about it. And now I have to go see what I can track on it.

I kind of miss the sidebar in threads tbh.

All these various sidebars and ads are taking a toll on my laptop (persistent lag, increased loading time, fan noise), similar to what happened last year before switching to the current vBulletin version.

Its no more ads than we had before, and since they are pulling from a different pool they should load faster (asynchronously),

They ran afoul of the ToS with that mod.

I would suggest getting rid of the ads as they serve no real use.

Yeah tough kids hiding behind what they assume is an anonymous way to insult people. If they had a pair of balls they would say it to your face. Or to mine, considering you haven't been an admin for quite some time now.

Its the same reason we had to get rid of tags on most of the forum. People just cannot resist. Its actually quite sad because there are lots of features we could have. The "popular searches" are now disabled until I can figure out something to do there, or at least a decent way to track them that doesn't require server shell access and trapping words in the access log.

I may just start handing out permabans for stuff like that because they really do ruin stuff for everyone. Dealing with it gets old, and they never change anyways. Might as well just take out the trash. In fact you can now consider that site policy if you want. Pass the word, if I have to do a lot of extra work because of abuse, expect the punishment to be more severe. Since typing into that thing passes it through TWC to Google I can probably work up something to figure out who typed what if its not already trapped in the access logs now.

In fact maybe I should just setup a honey trap for these idiots, and enable tags site wide again.

Depends. My Surface Pro 3 has a 2.9GHz Gen IV I-5, a 256 GB Solid State Hard drive, 8 Gigs of RAM, and is only 1/4 the size and weight of my laptop, probably smaller. The only real downsides are that the GPU isn't a dedicated unit but is a 512MB Integrated card, the fan is rather small, and it uses Windows 8, which sucks. It's actually better than my actual laptop, except for the GFX card.

However, mine was the 2nd most expensive one, the normal consumer version is terrible compared to it, but it absolutely trumps pretty much every other tablet out there. I think only one of the Samsung Tablets might be better than my Surface.

A Windows Surface doesn't show up as a mobile device because it's technically a laptop. The only thing that makes it a mobile device is that you can carry it, but you can also carry a 200 pound rock.

I was refering to those ads spaces. Before this upgrade, there were only two ads spaces right below the TWC logo, while now there are also two more around the sidebars area.

You just ran into my bias against Windows 8 from the perspective of an IT guy that has to support that piece of crap OS. If someone ever introduced me to the guys who thought some of that up, it might get ugly.

That isn't part of the forum. Its basically just a direct portal to Google with an interface on the site. It can only see what Google sees.
