I BEG CA: PLEASE let us have the OPTION to turn OFF/DELAY tooltips...

they are so large and pop up so annoyingly just like in RTW. Why can't we have them delayed or OFF if we want!?

Other than that... I admit, the demo is looking good. fps was + on my rig, amd 3200, 2 gb, nvidia 7800gs.

So... how about an EASY change in the final game.

You can..............................

Go to M2TW Install and look at preference.cfg open it up with notepad and look for tooltip something like tooltip 1 and change it to 0

Thanks, never knew you could get rid of these. I think these tooltips are more in the way in MTW2 for some reason. Maybe bigger? I think I will turn these off after a while when you know how good the different units are against each other. Usually I can also tell how the battle is going without this info. I also feel that the info you get from it was a bit inconsistent, one second it will say that it will take a genius to win the close combat and the next second that only a fool could loose it. I do like info like when the unit feels secured on hill/protected flanks/inspired by general etc, but you learn this after a while thanks to the tooltip imo.

why would you want these things off?
it seems that it would make it so you don't really know anythign about how your units are doing.

That's what those were called. I couldn't fight a battle without them. Now advice on the other hand, thoroughly blows. I have been playing Total War since the first Medieval and Medieval 2 is absoulutely brilliant.

I think I've seen this in Rome, or maybe the M2TW demo.

That feature got implimented with patch 1.3 for RTW and BI.

I have gotten something like that once or twice on RTW, I think...

Why wouldn't you want tooltips? The only ones that really pop up are if either your general or the enemy general dies, correct? I could be wrong on that, haven't played it in a few days.

is he talking about the cutscenes? or the blocks popping up on the left side of the screen when units rout and generals get slain.

Aww c'mon now they give you a smily face to go along your troops... I have this eerie feeling that sometimes my troops have the happy smiley face when they are butchering enemies... Sort of sick isn't?

Turning off tool tips would make the game harder, because you won't know what your troops are thinking, what they are doing, etc. It would actually make the game more realistic.

THANK YOU wipeout for the info... I had to delete the tooltip txt files in rtw to get rid of a lot of them... they annoy me so much, and take up so much of the screen. Everywhere I move my mouse this flickering block of text pops up blocking the view! Ugh...

Now I am, at last, happy... Assuming the AI is better than RTW's in the full game, I think I will like this game very much.
