    Default Very odd sound bug...

    Kingdoms patched to 1.04
Third age total war patched to 3.2 and running DAC beta with patch and hotfix.

Now playing as any faction i do not have archer sounds when in battle " releasing bow, shooting arrows, arrow noises ". I also do not have marching noises when in battle. Really the only sounds i do have are the " cry " every time a soldier dies, i possibly might not even have siege equipment noise now that i think about it, ( havent noticed either way ).

Now i have these sounds in both Medieval II total war and the Kingdoms expansions. Is there any way you can just give me a line of code to check if i even have these sound files present in my TATW folder to begin this process...

Oh, also this game was bought through amazon so it is not connected to steam and it has not downloaded that horrible multiplayer patch everyone is talking about, this is unrelated.

    Welcome to TWC, aragorns'

Suggest you ask in DaCs thread, if anyone else have had this problem, otherwise it's probably a corrupted download

CLean install third age total war. 3.0 part one... 3.0 part 2... patch 3.2 ( patch 3.1 no longer exists... ) same problem. no DAC or MOS installed, no archer sounds, marching sounds, balista sounds, only the sounds of soldiers dying is apparently present.

You probably have issues with Windows feature called UAC and VirtualStore..

Go here ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...h-pictures-!-) ) apply three steps explained in first post for Windows Vista, 7 and 8 Users: Edit Security for your main M2TW folder ( or use TakeOwneship.reg method) , unhide hidden folders, check VirtualStore for Medieval II TW folder, and delete it if you find it there. Then restart your computer.

I applied those steps, re installed TATW and still no change. only sound i have in battle is the sound when a unit dies, no marching, archer sounds, Batista sounds, battering ram hitting gate sounds. Any other possible suggestions?

My other suggestion would be to completely reinstall M2TW+Kingdoms, only this time install them anywhere else on your PC, just not in either Program Files or Program Files(x86) folder.

Mine is on C: drive, so at the end I have C: \ Medieval II Total War folder.

Thanks for you help elven kind, but that didnt work either, i hope someone else can drop by and see if they have any insight on this. Its just very odd because i have those sounds in both Med II and kingdoms just there not present in TATW... i also have no crashes in TATW either.

Did you find Medieval II Total War folder in your: C:-users-your user name-AppData-Local-VirtualStore-Program files or Program Files (x86)-
SEGA folder , and deleted it?

If you did, and it still doesn't work, disable/turn off your User Account Control: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...windows-vista/

Restart your PC and try again.

Still no change Elven King... Running Windows 8.1
    Steps taken
Clean install Med II 1.3 Kingdoms 1.4 ( verified all sounds available in Med II and Kingdoms. )
    Restarted PC
Edited Security of Med II folder
    Un-hid hidden files
    Disabled UAC
Deleted Med II files in %APPDATA% in both Med II and Sega folders
    Restarted PC
Ran Med II again and verified all sounds still working.
Clean install TATW part 1, part 2, and patch 3.2...
    Restarted PC...
Ran Med II/ Kingdoms archer sounds present
Ran TATW only music sound present. No in game " battle noises " present.
    ....
    ...
    ..
Any other thoughts elven? This seems to be a very weird bug considering. Is there any way i can have either an installer of just the sound files or any way to have my sound files verified properly? Looking through my files i do have many sound files present in the same order and depth as the sound files found in the Data file for Med II and kingdoms.

Have you checked ingame Sound settings? If they are ok, open your TATW.cfg file located in your M2TW/ mods/ Third_Age_3 folder and copy/paste whole text here in your post.

Hmm, it looks good. Copy paste whole text from your medieval2.preference.CFG file which is located in your main Medieval II TW folder.

My last suggestion would be to check for Windows updates for your audio/sound card.

    Change:

    speech_enable = 0 , change 0 to 1

Save and Exit. Then right mouse click on this same medieval2.preference.CFG file, go to Properties, and set Attributes to Read-Only.. Apply and OK. Test again.

    Wow, nothing works..

Do you have any other mod installed? Like, Stainless Steel perhaps? Do other mods have sounds?

You are a Saint Elven. You asking about if i had stainless steel installed led me to look in my files/programs and found that I actually had 2 versions of M2TW installed on my PC in two different folders in my programs(x86). After uninstalling both M2TWs and running a third party file cleaner/remover i re installed M2TW and then installed TATW 3.2... Everything is running smoothly and sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase Elven. I never would have though i had two versions of M2TW installed on my computer in two different places. Thanks!!!!!!

Hehee, I almost started to doubt in my helping methods..

Also, if you are going to play vanilla TATW 3.2, there are two bugfixes which you should install, they are not complicated to be installed: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ntial-bugfixes

Always make backups of the files you are about to change. And, if I were you, I would make a backup copy of whole Third_Age_3 folder somewhere on your HDD just in case you want to install some TATW submod etc.

    Cheers!
