Default How to avoid night battle?

Times (2 times in a row what bothers me) battle begins on the day and takes place very quickly in the dark. And there, no way to identify. Who's who?

Are there a file to edit to avoid this?

Agreed--it's rare, but when it does happen, it's awful. Missiles also glow white and stay that way in the ground... very odd. I see some code about "night" in weather_db, but I have no idea what I'm doing in that file. Would someone mind telling us how to just "turn off" the possibility of getting a night battle?

No, of course. Didn't mean to come across that way. I plan on playing EBII for many, many years to come. The team is doing incredible work.

Those battles are very cool. However, they should probably be classified as 'night battles.'

Night battles are awesome too, I just hope EB team adds a moonlight effect to the game so that we could easily determine the units on the ground.

night battles are cool but they are ahistorical or rather unrealistic. Raids on fixed positions at night were possible but set-piece battles did not occur in pitch dark--it would have been impossible to manage.

Is there a way to disable night battles entirely? I don't mean the ones where the sun is setting, but rather where the box is checked "night battle" when the AI attacks. The AI has an obsession with night battles and I am sick of it.

in data/world/maps/campaign/imperial campaign folder open up a file called descr_strat. in it, look for a night_battles_enabled line and comment it out with ";" like the following:

    ;night_battles_enabled

i'm afraid this isn't save game compatible...

For clarity, changes to descr_strat.txt aren't savegame compatible because the game only looks at the file once, when it builds a new campaign. So changes won't do anything to a game in progress, but they probably won't corrupt/crash a save either.

I want this night time battle occurrence (during the day) gone as well. It's a horrible scenario, whatever collision of shaders and light bloom happening is not good. The ground turns black with no texture and the setting sun somehow is blinding. Glad to know, its a known issue being worked on.

I strongly suggest moving this map time/weather type fully into the real night battle category once it's fixed. It will add variety to that much needed part of the tactics for factions who make attacks at night. I have yet to play a real night battle and hope to see more of them (not often, but not none either).

The real ones, with a specific game mechanic are a key tactical move for any faction attempting to cut off/prevent a reinforcing army from joining a fight. Generals with this ability should be treasured. And should be a regular option for even average generals of factions like the Getai and if ever forthcoming, a true Thracian faction.
