Default Request for people to back-up all (WH)mod & submod downloads/save informative webpages

Hello , since CA WILL definitely release a full GW licensed game sooner or later,
    and there will be a game announcement on the 25th september;
I must strongly advise and ask people who are creators or even users of any GW based mods ,
to back up all downloads and PREFFERABLY also save webpages with important information
such as bug workarounds , hotseat enabling ,multiplayer battle enabling, mod / submod information,
guides , how to's , FAQ's and even previous versions downloads.

There will be a warhammer fantasy licensed game , no doubt about that ,
so i invite you think about the possible ramifications of this .
Sega is the owner of CA , who have paid a lot of money for the WH license .
They have already rushed Rome2's release ,
and in november 2013 when an intern tried to make a little amends for its shoddy release by
re-opening the Empire multiplayer campaign beta for everyone to request a free activation code ,(via SEGA 's website)
they canceled it by Christmas ,removing the game from their support website.
I warned my friends about this , but my warnings fell on deaf ears.

This tells you a little of SEGA's character, for more info search TotalBiscuit's news on SEGA ,
look at what they try to do to anything that MIGHT possibly be construed as even SLIGHTLY hindering their profits.
(lets plays of older games , for instance)

And the other party (as in soviet-style) involved is GW ,
well , if you're a wargaming fan , the less said about those money-grubbing bastards the better,
Let's just hope their poor financials will soon lead to their going belly-up.
( GAMES WORKSHOP poor financials are another reason to be worried , knee-jerk reactions and all )
so , even to those mods hosted on other forums , please HEED my warnings .
The corporate legal teams of these 2 companies are Notoriously active ,
so do not think TWC or another forum won't be forced to delete all content
including the entire subforum i am posting in right now.
It may seem unlikely to you now , but dont discount the possibility ,
its better to be safe than sorry.

That is a very good idea. I am going to download this mod today, even though my interest in it is low. I've heard it's very well made, however, and I might end up enjoying it if I try it. Also, I stockpile everything.

Mod has been out something like... 5 years now? I'm pretty sure they can't/won't take it down, even if they would want to. Even if there would be WH-TW game. Companies tend not to care old products, like for example TATW is still here, even tought WB shot down MERP, a Skyrim LOTR mod by legal ways.

Atleast back in day when this mod was released, GW was actually encouraging people to make WH-mods, and why wouldn't you, it is free marketing for your IP. There was the requirement that you would have to present the IP in real light, like total conversion, and not something like Space Marine in Sims, in environment it made no sense.

GW is also aware of the mod, they had one complain about it, it was using the IP in its title (Was known as Call of Warhammer), and the team changed the name result by that request to Rage of Dark Gods.

Yeah, it might still happen, but I doubt they will take such actions, just to bring down mod for a game that is almost decade old.

As far as I know CA always encouraged modding of their games. Since it's also profitable for them. ( Some people buy their games just for the mods. )
Besides that the mod is non-profit so it don't think any legal steps can be taken towards it.

Never underestimate the scumbaginess of corporations (and people in general).

I've downloaded this mod, but the installation instructions are mind-boggling.

Well there was money involved in the whole Shining Force fiasco. ( Youtuber's making money off Sega's products. Yes I agree it's a bit harsh but still somewhat understandable. )

Youtuber's are constantly being hit over copyright . However I yet have to read a story where a non-profit mod was banned or sued for copyright violations.

MERP is one, and quite sad one. LOTR mod for elderscrolls under development about a decade. Started with Morrowind I think, and once they started converting already done stuff for Skyrim, WB contacted them, and shot down any development of it via lawyers.

    Here's discussion about it here:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...tions-for-TATW

Then again, if they would not had gone for Skyrim, that would not had happened. Lets be honest, could WB deliver better product than full conversion LOTR-Skyrim mod? And there is the whole thing that the mod could be at Steam, at Workshop. If they would had stayed with Morrowind, things might be different, but who knows...

I seriously don't think Med2 mods would be in danger, TATW is still here too, WB doesn't seem to care. And if there is WH-TW, lets be honest, we all propably get that too. Old game like this isn't a real threath in the eyes of those companies.

Yeah, but those bloodsuckers didn't have a legitimate claim, that's why they backed down when called on their .

Still, it never hurts to be ready for things, so let the stockpiling begin.

At least this mod has a Russian site and torrent downloads. Good luck to any IP Lawyers attempting to breach that mess.

Guess I didn't do my research properly before posting. It's quiet sad to hear that.

Hopefully the mod won't be in danger like you said.
