That poll was some time ago.
And prob was 'what do people want' instead of 'what will make the most money for CA = the next TW title'

Why are people taking a huge offence to it? its just a game you don't have to buy it, and Im pretty sure they will make normal TW right after.

I for one honestly believe it is a standalone expansion. They have always put one of those since Empire and Warscape so I expect one now aswell. I do not think that they are ready to jump to the next era without going through the migrations. Also, Warhammer is not a TW game!!!!! The game concepts are the same and it is true that they have a team working on a new game from that series but Warhammer and TW are different things!!! If they mix them together, what will the TW logo become? A mix of history based strategy games and a completely fictional one? I do not think so!
So please stop putting Warhammer there! That is not a TW game, it is simply going to be or is under development by a CA team.
RTWRM - back to basics
all i want is, collision, no expansion whoring, and no only kill moves but we dont live in a perfect world
also it better not being Barbarian invasion 2 the dlc whoring is already ridiculous enough
Some facts:
The licence for Warhammer Fantasy was brought by SEGA. The licence for Warhammer 40,000 was brought by Slitherine( UK dev ).
SEGA got it in the beginning of the year.
In the press release: "The unannounced game "joins ongoing ROME II content development and the previously announced ARENA F2P project at the UK developer's studio in Horsham".
So it's NOT anything that is connected to Rome 2 or Arena. It clearly says : game, not content as it says for Rome 2.
So if it is Warhammer it will be on this old engine. Since less then one year is not enough time to make an engine.
If it's a new engine that was being made parallel with Rome 2 then it's mostly likely a totally new Total War game.
Something like China, Victorian times, Arabs etc.

With Total war since original Shogun, made my life better!
My videos about Total War on YouTube :

It wouldn't make any sense to suddenly go to a fantasy setting. Total war is a historically set game series and they would be taking a big risk to suddenly change the series. CA doesn't strike me as a big risk taker. If its warhammer I'm out. It will probably be Attila ....and I'm fine with that.
There will be CA created Warhammer games -- CA is licensed to develop several and work on them is already underway. If they are smart they will continue to develop TW games alongside whatever Warhammer games they bring out. If they set TW aside to work on Warhammer that could cause more reputational damage to the brand. If they half-ass TW games because of Warhammer, they will also suffer.
As long as the warhammer and totalwar games are separate that's fine with me. I just cant see them abandoning their bread and butter franchise after all these years to move into fantasy. I hope that they release an Attila type campaign in much the same way Napoleon Totalwar was an improvement on empire but still kind of like an expansion.

Many of my past contributions in the time from 2011-2017 will contain content that now show broken links. Unfortunately I had to delete all pictures linked on TWC that were hosted on imageshack.us. Read why
If you are missing anything of interest, please let me know. Sorry for any inconvinience caused.
I think CA want to go to something radically different. I believe the whole shenanigans has been tough for them and they would like to leave it behind for a while. Escape the negativity of the past year. Also, I've not seen them ask the forms here or official what people would like for the next TW- I believe because they're moving away from historical stuff to a new kind of customer. And their `ethos` seems more fitting to real fantasy with no solid real-world rules than a reality-based game.
The signs are all there.
I may be wrong.
I think it may be Warhammer. Many aspects while of course are incredibly useful and make sense in Rome, also maybe testing ground for Warhammer. Choosing bodyguard units for generals? That's also the same as attaching characters to the regiments in WarhammerThat's one aspect top of my head that come, I noticed some more, but unfortunately I forgot some of them.
And I don't get the hate of fantasy strategy game. In many aspects Warhammer is just a little twisted Europe (High Elves: England Empire: HRE Bretonia: Feudal France, Kislev: Commonwealth mixed with Muscovy/Russia, Tilea: Italy+somewhat Greece, Estalia: Spain, Chaos:Scandinavia, Lizardmen: Aztecs/Mayans etc.). Most TW games, already weren't following history strictly. And at least there will be no arguments about: "This unit is total fantasy! It wasn't on the battlefield! It was only a rare occurence! etc". But still nitpicking people will be able to find wrong sandals![]()
How many times someone guessed wrong about my nationality: 3
Where do I not come from: Czech Republic, US, South America, Former Colony, Germany, Austria, Switzerland
There's a difference between alternate-history (TW) anding elves!
Of course TW doesn't follow history strictly, you wouldn't have any choices if it did. But the point is things you do in TW could've happened. Elves couldn't have happened. Elves aren't real.
I want my game to be immersive.. And a bunch of elves and dwarves would break that for me.
Anyway I read some CA interviews where they more or less said TW will continue to be historical settings, and that the warhammer stuff is going to be a separate series/game (thank god)
If it will be Warhammer, I will not buy it. Such auniverse, can't even tell.
I'd wish CA continues for two years patching / DLCing Rome 2, going Empire 2 from mid 17th to end 19th century and world map afterwards and Medieval 3 lastly.
I think it will be "Warhammer total war early Beta “ I mean finished product needing 15 patches . Duck!! Here comes the hype. Promotional videos , touched up screenshots , “ Best graphics and Ai ever ,fully optimised multi core ” . Anyone who pre orders after Rome 2 is crazy.
Victoria Total war might appeal to me Crimean, Zulu, Indian Mutiny, Sudan with Dervishes but I wouldn’t buy it until it was a finished product. Warhammer would be a ton of![]()
Why Victoria? Clone armies and some tribal faction, what a diversity.
You Kidding ? The Crimean war
http://www.britishbattles.com/crimean-war/balaclava.htm
British French , Ottoman Empire and Russians. Indian factions, Zulu War and maybe the Boer war. A campaign in each region.
