Just like many here im betting on Arena or a BI/cleopatra expansion for r2

I would really like a warhammer total war as im a huge fan (on a side note Call of warhammer mod for med2 kingdoms is just awesome and a show that warhammer can be done, and very well in tw) however if its on the warscape engine im going to be pretty annoyed and will no doubt wait for a steam sale to pick it up, despite how much of a fan i am of both tw and warhammer. That engine (engines, compilation of binary, interpretation of complex elctronic signals) known as warscape has destroyed the series for me personally.

Altough everything is better than Warhammer. Isn't total war a series of realistic strategy games? Warhammer just don't fit in the series (ok Rome 2 has special abilities, but no trolls, giants, mega fireflies etc.) If they make Warhammer I will lose the last bit of faith in CA!

i dont even want to talk about the possibility of total war turning into a freak of fantasy it would mean the end of the line for the only game i play the end of a series that was all about strategy and tactics based on history, the destraction of an old friend and the end of the meaning of that series, the alternation of its course and the distraction of its core of fans.
Leaving that awfullness aside, i would recomend a new era and i hope it will be based around the 16 and especially the 17th century, a century of warfare in Europe, that included the English civil war and the collasal thirty years war . Full of interesting possibilities in gameplay combining ancient and modern methods of fighting with gunpowder and the sabre and even the pike alike in the same battlefielf. A very very intersting period for a total war game to be based on

I want a for example a Britannia Total War. This game should focus on the British isles in different time spans for example after the Romans left the area, when the Vikings invaded it, War of the Roses etc.

Like the others, i think and i hope it will be a Attila/Barbarian Invasion, they just can't announce a new "game/era" one year after the release of Rome II, they will gave the impression that they leave the game and it will be disastrous.
With the regions attributed to federati barbarians, i hope it will be the return of the trade options in diplomacy...

Would be more interesting to have a new period than one previously visited. It could focus on Charlemagne, the Mongols (in Central Asia, China, Korea, Japan and Europe), Warring States in China, Southeast Asia, Scandinavia, British Isles with the focus on the Dark Ages/War of the Roses/Cromwell, a proper focus on discovering the Americas (this would have to entail the option of founding new cities, with predetermined city names for the AI triggered by its location, and freedom of choice for the player), Independence wars from European control (Americas), Africa (Zulu wars, Boer wars, etc.) and a lot of other similar interesting events/periods in our history.

I am almost afraid to see what they toss at us. Hopefully it will have nothing to do with R2. I just want to forget that mess. I figure it will either be Mongol or Victoria TW. Hopefully CA has a new engine in the works but I doubt that.

i do not agree that it is the best game considering Medieval 2 was is and always will be more stable and infinitely more moddable but empire had some really cool features like the tech tree and the three theatre's and of course the awesome naval combat

Anything they anounce, my only hope is that they finally get rid of Warscape... this engine is old enough and has done its time (and it has seen the 2 worse releases CA ever did : Empire & R2 )

Their first engine, great for the time, did Shogun1 and Med1,
The second was a really nice improvement and gave great moddabillity to Rome1 and Med2,
Warscape was really nice in terms of graphics and offered real new option... but it was a setback for mods, and only Shogun 2 farred well (and is still the best vanilla TW imho)
