Are you using the Steam version of Rome Total War?
You will probably need to reduce many settings to lower levels as the CPU speed is low.
However, it's much more likely that post-battle CTDs are due to Anti-Virus and/or simply Windows protecting itself.
There are a number of suggested tweaks for Win8 in the main forums I believe - it's not a Mod issue. The only thing RSII does particularly is stress the system and .exe to its limits and thus show up some issues.

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.
there is a thread for thathttp://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-on-newer-PC-s

okay I'm back after awhile so here's what happen. At first when tried everything on the list (except the directx part), it kinda worked but then it crashes up 3 to 4 battles. Next thing is someone told me how to modify the game's exe to use more than 2GB of memory using CFF explorer and so far, no crash ever since! Even with max settings and after multiple battles, it still running! So thats it, now I'm happy.![]()
What the tootie? How? What is this sorcery..? Can you explain what was explained to you here so the rest of us also know what to do please?
The procedure messe with the .exe, so its against ToS to discuss it here .

Yep, I figured out how to do it, can not believe this existed so long without me finding out. Such a shame that new computers handle old games worse though isn't it, maybe we wont even be able to play these mods one day, when our computers have become old and gray and we are forced to settle with Rome 2 (3, 4?)![]()
no way that will happen Night, then i clean up my old vista pc and play old games on that one.rather that then playing rome2

I really do not understand why players are having more and more issues with the operating systems.
This game started on XP I then moved to Vista then to Windows 7 then to Windows 8 and now Windows 8.1 -
The bugs of the game have been by now defeated the only ones that remain have to do with the way the game was coded. As you have this really bad memory leak.
One thing I have noticed is players have more crashes when running an AMD video card vs. running an Nvidia video card.
When the game was coded it, they used nvidia video cards so that could be linked.
Just a programmers point of VIEW.....![]()
