Default king Rick's top 10 mods

I have compiled a list of what i think are the top 10 mods for tw games, I have included the links to their forums and other information

This list is designed to help new TWC members choose which mods to download and to remind old members what is available.

This list is largely my own opinion and there are other good mods available but I believe these are the best 10 and in this order

    Red means rtw engine only,
Blue means rtw BI engine only,
Purple means both engines can be used

    1) Rome Total realism platinium edition - link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26

This legendary mod makes rtw far more realistic adds new units and can run on either rtw or BI engines,

The gold edition is made for 1.2 and is still a very good game but the use of the 1.5 patch or BI engine makes the platinium edition better

    One download – 212mb

    Needs 1.5 patch or 1.6

    2) SPQR 6.2 - link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=32

This Trivium project has a scope and focus that entails a minimalist approach to modifications of primary game mechanics and maximizing combat interactions. This mod is a rtw era mod

    One download – 6.2 full build – 178mb

    Needs 1.5 patch

    3) Invasio Barbarorum Link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=113

aka Invasio Barbarorum:Flagellum Dei or IBFD and will include Goth's Imperium Julianorum. It is a Mod for BI 1.6 focusing on the late Roman Empire. Current campaign starts in 410AD (INVASIO BARBARORUM v6),

    two downloads – v6 – 175.88mb, 6.05 patch – 4.28mb (first needed, second advised)

    needs 1.6 patch

    4) Europa Barbarorum (EB) link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31

This Trivium project is designed to be the definitive full conversion historical modification project for the global RTW community. This mod is the most heavily detailed, researched and scripted mod made for rtw, unfortunatly it is incomplete therefore it is only fourth in my list.

    Two downloads 0.72 – 136.6mb + 0.74 patch - 68mb (both needed)

    Needs 1.2 patch

    5) Darthmod – rtw and BI eras, link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=71

This mod uses unique ideas and greatly accepted techniques for a competitive AI behavior especially in the tactical battlefield. With the contribution of many great skinners, it evolutes to a true enhancement of RTW vanilla version game.

    Also has a BI campaign

    Two downloads – v8 – 240mb + v8.1 patch – 275mb (first needed, second advised)

Needs 1.5 patch for rtw campaign and 1.6 for BI campaign

    6) Chivalry: Total War (ChivTW) link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58

Once known as "MTW Mod", this mod brings the medieval theme to RomeTW, from 1072 to 1453AD. This total conversion takes great care for a well balanced MP experience and an exciting SP campaign.

This mod can use the rtw or rtwbi engines (BI engine is better)

    One download – v0.5 full build – 239.8mb

Needs 1.5 patch and 1.6 if BI engine is used

    7) Arthurian: Total War link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=107

A barbarian Invasion mod - the mod focuses on Northern Gaul and Britain staring date 481 AD and it will end in the VIIIth or late VIIth century.

    4 downloads v0.6 – 162mb, 0.61 patch – 128KB, 0.62 patch, small patch for 0.62 (0.6 needed but 3 very small patches are adivised

    Needs 1.6 patch

    8) Rios 463AD IBFD + king Rick’s Campaigns link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=113

An independent sub mod for Invasio Barbarorum (uses resources from Invasio Barbarorum but requires a separate install). currently features three campaigns: the first campaign starts in 463AD and covers the last years of the western empire. The second campaign starts in 432 with the Huns on the outskirts of the Roman Empire. The third campaign – the Justinian campaign made by king Rick, starts in 527AD and gives you the chance to reconqor the west, during this time the eastern empire was at its peak and it partially succeeded in reconqoring the west.

King Rick’s latest campaigns (not yet added to Rios mod):

Theodoric campaign – similar to the Justinian campaign except it starts in 493AD during the height of ostrogothic power under the reign of Theodoric the great.

Majorian campaign – Starts in 461AD (two years before main campaign) differences with main campaign - the western empire starts off with some lands in western spain and a full stack plus a reasonable fleet, this gives u the chance to sucessfuly lead Majorian’s campaign to regain roman Africa and destroy the vandals, the western empire for obvous reasons is far easier to play as in this campaign than in the 463ad campaign.

    5 downloads – rios orginal mod – 90mb, Hun and Justinian era patch – 120mb, quickfix 2 – 1mb, Theodoric campaign - 6mb, Majorian campaign - 6mb. (download all of them)

    Needs 1.6 patch

Note: My campaigns are made for this mod therefore I am a member of the Rios IBFD team and the IB team, I have put these mods in the places were I would have put them if I wasnt a member of the teams, therefore the positions for them are unbias.

    9) Napoleonic Total War 2 link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=196

One of the most extensively overhauled and most eagerly awaited Total War mod, focusing in the Napoleonic warfare. Made by the Lordz.

Note: This is custom battles only

    2 downloads - borodino - 130mb, waterloo patch - 70mb

    Needs 1.5 patch

    10) Napoleonic Total War (for MTW VI)

This mod is set during the napoleonic wars and is made for MTW VI, it includes a campaign as well as custom battles

2 downloads - full install - 69.7mb, music patch -65.8mb (first needed, second advised)

This list will be updated when any of the mods shown release a new patch or version or when a better mod is released.

I look forward to your comments or suggestions

Admins: I would be greatful if you could sticky this thread

This is a good list, King Rick, I agree with your comments about the various mods you listed. Two other mods of note that I would point out:

-- Iberian Total War focuses on the Punic Wars in great detail -- it's undergoing a complete revision and the new version should be out in a week or so. If you like your Hannibal vs. Rome action, it's definitely worth trying out.

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=62

-- The Metropolis & Naval mod for RTR Platinum is really amazing, with a wonderful new system of farm income/development and a much expanded naval system.

why do u want to sticky this thread ???
its not a summary of all the mods availabel to make it sticky.
its ur personal opinian ,and why u want to impose ur personal opinian on everyone .
ut presentation is wonderfull and it will be helpful for noobs if u remove ranking system and include all the mods which are completed.

I will have a look at them, no offence lusted its just that i havent had time to play ur mod yet,

i will probably do a review of the mods shazbot suggested (i am only including finished or near finished mods) or i will do a poll and choose the highest 10 mods and i point out again that my ranking system is only a guideline and i am suprised that it has come under so much critism in a few hours

Definitely give it try, Lusted's TE is one of the most polished mods around and plays great. One of my favorites.

Yeah too bad it "died", though for me it don't plays so great sometimes but I overlook it when I enjoy it so much as I do
(CTD every 3rd battle :hmmm: )

You should try re-installing it, Appius. I can play for hours without a CTD.

cherryfunk: After the ctd's I start up the game again and try the battle again, and voíla it works.
Atleast there's a option to solve it.

About reinstalling I prefer not because i'm in a middle of a campaign..

Appius, do you have AUTOSAVE=FALSE set in Preferences.txt in the main RTW folder? The autosave feature is buggy and causes a lot of CTD's. It's not Lusted's MOD.....which by the way...ranks up there in the top two as far as I'm concerned.

    Check it out later...

Edit: I must say, it seems like your trick actually work. Never thought it would cause I got the ctd's entering battles, but no ctd so far.
Thanks dvk and I apologize for the inconvenience to Lusted
