Funny and also very interesting thread is this one, thanks KLA and other contributors.

I would not consider the hard historical time of present days and focus on ancient era.

Rule is one: if we would (and CA with us) consider presence or absence of factions monitoring the actual geopolitical situation well, we couldn't have a total war game.

The truth lies in the first KLA post: think only to MASADA and what it represented for Romans considering the number of legions involved and the necessary total spread of all roman technical virtus to strike a fierce bunch of combatants. Masada was the definitive chance for the prestige of Roma's authority in the Whole area, we cannot avoid this.

We should send a Flavius Josephus to CA headquarter and make them thinking about it.

I cannot imagine this period without Judea.

PS: KLA, your passionate documentary research is stunning everytime. I love to see your pics and read explanations.
    Great work as Always.

PS Karamazovmm, probably next step is Darth Vader saying Christ "Jesus, I'm your father"

I agree that the missing Judea as a faction is puzzling. Then, to avoid confrontation, there also must be a Philistine/Palestinian faction as well in West Bank region, ideally allied with Judea, to further fan the flames. TLDR: Both Judea and Philistines/Palestine should be in IA at least. It seems though CA just skirted the entire issue in favor of passive-aggressive neutrality.

Also, perhaps I'm too optimistic, but wouldn't the Punics/Phoenicians be a possible UNITED front for both Arabs and Jews? Why? Punics/Phoenicians were Aramaic Semitic peoples, not differentiated between Jew or Arab. If anything, I'd think that uniting behind a Carthaginian legacy for both Jews and Arabs would bring them closer together... and that these Semitic peoples almost always resisted Rome's ascent to power.

No, yes? Am I completely off? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not really. Jews were distinct from other Semitic tribes of the area by their strict observance of monotheist religion and theocratic form of social order. Furthermore the relation between Phoenician and Jewish kingdoms was most often viciously antagonistic. Nowadays most Jews identify themselves by a rather vague concept of "race" rather than religious observance, which is something that was imposed on them by recent history and Israeli law.

I don't see how Arabs could be related to Phoenicia, both culturally and geographically wise. The Phoenicians were a maritime, urbanized culture, whereas Arabs were desert dwelling nomads who inhabited the deep parts of the Arabian peninsula along the coast of the Red Sea prior to their migration all over the place that occurred centuries later. Although it is true that Judaism was heavily present in the Arabic peninsula before Muhammad (and even after, for instance there's still a Jewish community in Yemen).

That said though I'm very curious about any information on Carthaginian inhabitants of Jewish descent. There's very little proof that they played a major role in Carthage history or politics, although being a maritime Semitic power with a shared history and culture, it's probable that there was a good number of "Carthaginized" Jews living within the city and its colonies.

Also correct me if I'm mistaken but I haven't yet seen the most likely explanation for the Iudaioi's absence in the Augustus campaign, which is that CA is likely planning to include them in an upcoming paid DLC. Because, you know, snigger snigger.

lol I'm pretty sure the real reason was because of Herod and his dealings with Antony in HBO's Rome. The same goes with Cleopatra. They even ripped stuff off of 300 and Gladiator.

Besides, who would want to buy that DLC? It's like buying Syracse but instead in a landlocked capital...in a landlocked province.

Gentlemen, should you insist on discussing issues that are in no way related to the timeframe of R2 or the nature of this forum, please head to VV.
    Thank you.
