    Default Massalia swap faction building costs

    Hi guys,

    simple question:
    When I play as Massalia swap faction - 1 turn, I have a feeling that building costs are very high, as high as if it was 0-turn campaign (especially when I skiped to Dacia, Pergamon, Scythia or Belgae 1 turn campaigns). I tried to reinstall the RTW and RS II, but the costs were the same.

    Therefore my question is: is it a flaw in my downloaded RS II install file? Are the building costs for Massalia so high as intended by (oh mighty and venerable) creators of this state-of-art mod by some purpose, that a creature so simple and ignorant as me cannot fully understand? Playing as Massalia is quite chalenging this way (not that I complain, Im just curious).

    Thank you for answers!

    Swap factions don't seem to have different EDBs for 0-turn and 1-turn (except Syracuse) so that's probably why.

    I took a look at the campaign in-game. The buildings seem to follow the pricing that I observed in the 1-turn Syracuse (eg: Academy is 2000.... whereas on 0-turn it would be 4000)

    I was under impression, that Massalia is 1turn only, so I expected economy related to this fact. I know that Syracusae as only (AFAIK) swap faction has the option to choose between 1- and 0- turn campaign and obviously has diferent economies in both modes.
    So that would indicate that Massalia has "default" (in RS II 0-turn) economy even in its (exclusive) 1-turn mode?

    The build costs match 1-turn. So do the building "bonuses" How much is an academy showing for you?

    1turn is 2000, 0turn is 4000

    The Massalia EDB shows:
    capability
    {
    law_bonus bonus 1
    taxable_income_bonus bonus -8
    }
    construction 2
    cost 2000
    2000 of cost and -8% Taxable Income Bonus. This is 1-turn

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Massalia is 1-turn, another swap faction like Bhosporan Kingdom are 0-turn, for whatever reason...

    A Bhosporan Kingdom academy would have 4000 cost and -15% Taxable Income Bonus. This is 0-turn

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Now check your academy costs and tell me which it matches.

    Ok, seems the prices are okay. Problem is probably that as Massalia I have high upkeep for armies to defend on all fronts and only two cities, so building the highest form of goverment building for price exceeding 16.000 is kinda problematic. As other factions I usualy have more settlements and not so much (expensive) armies, so the costs are not so much of an issue.

    Thanks for help Alavaria. I would rep you, but I cant yet...

    The problem is that your "homeland" area is to the north of Massalia, a bunch of terrible-to-take and not very great landlocked provinces.

    Whereas to your south-east are Romans, who need a quick murdering. But sadly italy is not homeland. But it happens. Ideally just sweep through massacring everyone. Certainly would be faster than with Syracuse, where I had to clear Sicily, whereas Massalia has a very nice quick trip down to Roma.

    0-turn pricing has the City/Large City and Huge city upgrades as being really expensive. The 1-turn campaigns only have the Huge City upgrade as being expensive, oddly enough the City/Large City are rather cheap to build...

    Oh, though the Massalia EDU is a bit bugged, if you check you'll see while your barracks says you can train "Thureophoroi" you actually can't because of an EDU error in assigning ownership of that unit. They are a very nice sturdy and cheap unit. Whatever the unit description says, they can perfectly fine stand against hordes of Romans, they just can't kill them... for that you probably need some help.

    I play Massalia for about fifth time now. In first game i found, that Rome needst to be killed (well, it is good to anihilate them no matter what faction you play, because they are agent of chaos, without them the world map looks much more "realistic"). I usualy have no problems in massalia campaign till now, when everybody (rome, carthies, arverni, gallaeci) turned evil and declared war on me. And in middle of that came that huge city upgrade and i noticed, that its pretty expensive and i cant pay it, so I asked.

    Well, thank you one more time!

    You don't *need* to upgrade when it arrives.

    Really, I have some cities that are pushing 30k population that are still City level...

    Ok, lets stop with Massalia, I started Galatia campaign to experince it, analyze it and write some reference and observations for others. In this campaign, altough it is 1-turn (atleast in my case), prizes for buildings are 0-turn. For example basic temples cost 1.500 instead of 500, rural buildings cost significantly more. Also my capital (Ankyra) is making some 18-20000 denari per turn. Recruitment is 1-turn for me and for other factions as well.

    So question is the same :-) Is it on purpose it is done like that? Or am I the only one who has Galatia as 1-turn recruitment with 0 turn economy? Ill post some pictures later to prove aforementioned.

    Because I cannot find any thread that Galatia is one turn campaign, I always thought, that it is 0-turn. Now I am confused.

    Indeed Galatia seems to be somewhat messed up
