    Default Please help!

Hey I'm back in the Basement with another problem. Anyway, I posted this in the total war tech thingy, but I'm not sure it has as much to do with RTW as it does my computer. Here's the problem: I'm trying to install the 1.3 patch after I uninstalled RTW, but it won't install because it says that access is denied to the file C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome-Total War\data\credda6.rra and a whole lot of other files like it. It says the file, and then says "Access Denied (0x5)" or something like that.

Now I tried to reinstall again, but the problem is still there. I've tried regcleaner, but that didn't help either

Never heard of these files. This folder is full of files that start with export or descr. Sure you haven't got a bug or virus?

Hm. That's a good idea. Anyway, the files are the actual .txt files, but they are some.....underlying hidden files or something

If access is denied they will most likely be in use. Have you tried to manually removing (deleting) them after closing RTW?

Do you mean after I uninstall? Well, I mean, whenever I uninstall it, they go away by themselves. Do you think I should delete them first, and then uninstall the game, and then install it?

Ok, well it's definitely my computer that's causing the problem. Ok then.

I'm going freaking crazy here. It's something up with my computer. I try to move around files in the "Program Files" folders, but it always says "Access Denied". I'm an administrator though? Anyone have any clue?? Any suggestions>

This is what my help came up with. In the short: another user might have encrypted the files. Check the properties of the files (right click\properties\advanced). Did you previously log on under a different name?

Encrypting File System overview Encrypting File System (EFS) provides the core file encryption technology used to store encrypted files on NTFS file system volumes. Once you encrypt a file or folder, you work with the encrypted file or folder just as you do with any other files and folders.

Encryption is transparent to the user that encrypted the file. This means that you do not have to manually decrypt the encrypted file before you can use it. You can open and change the file as you normally do.

Using EFS is similar to using permissions on files and folders. Both methods can be used to restrict access to data. However, an intruder who gains unauthorized physical access to your encrypted files or folders will be prevented from reading them. If the intruder tries to open or copy your encrypted file or folder he receives an access denied message. Permissions on files and folders do not protect against unauthorized physical attacks.

You encrypt or decrypt a folder or file by setting the encryption property for folders and files just as you set any other attribute such as read-only, compressed, or hidden. If you encrypt a folder, all files and subfolders created in the encrypted folder are automatically encrypted. It is recommended that you encrypt at the folder level.

    Here is an addon:

Cipher displays or alters the encryption of folders and files on NTFS volumes. Used without parameters, cipher displays the encryption state of the current folder and any files it contains.

    Examples:

To determine whether the data folder is encrypted, type:

    cipher yourpathtoRTW\data
