Trading with the Aztecs

Im just curious if you could send an emissionary to the Aztec lands (early in the game) and try to benefit from so trade benefits to help with your quest in Europe? Has anyone heard anything about this?

Nobody knows yet, I haven't seen anything addressing this in any interviews at all either.

I guess we'll have to see in 2 weeks unless CA/SEGA says something.

It would be funny if the Aztecs just sacrificed your diplomat xD

Yeah, they don't have the technology to cross the ocean.

I have a feeling they will just be savages in MTW2, no trades, no alliances just Total War. (Haha see what I did there)

I guess it might be possible though if two factions go to the Americas (well, if they can) one European faction could ally with the aztecs while the other is at war with them... but I don't think the Aztecs will be ''there'' somewhere from the start of the game, I think they're also an emergent faction like the Timurids or Mongols. (but unbeknownst to the player)

I have a feeling though that only one faction can go to the Americas and it'll probably only become available on the map if you're either the most advanced faction, biggest army (or maybe navy?), you build a certain kind of ship, you build some building or it's time triggered on whatever turn 1492 is. Or you're biggest army/advanced faction/kind of ship AFTER or around 1492.

Perhaps, just to try, one could use the equivalent of the 'process_cq' cheat and get a ship like in the first year. Hmm...

i plan on trying that asap, one of the first things ill do is put an emisary, small scout army, and spy in a boat and send it over to the new world as early as possible

to try and set up alliances with the aztecs, and ofcourse spy on them too - the scout army will be to probe defenses, and in the long run i plan on sending some larger armies over to sit and ambush other conquering european armies, but never bother the aztecs

Anyone can go to America if they have the technology. I recall an interview from a while ago where it was said that Aztec lands could be fought over with other European powers.

why do you think Azteck will want to trade with you? i mean... i think they will not want to make friends with unknown faction... maybe they will think you are god even... why would they even negotiate with a god or a stanger on their loands? I think they will be with you in war the minute you get there! =)

I think you wont be able do use diplomats to negotiate with the aztecs. They are probably there only for conquest.
kinda like the persians in the "Alexander" expansion.

Presumably if you're able to send a diplomat over there it means:

1) You know of their presence before 1492
2) You also have the technology to be able to invade them

Well theres only one way to find out wait for m2tw to come out but its gonna be awhile before anyone gets that far in a campagien to say anything unless we call in sick from jobs or skip school(im not incourging this behaveior)

I think the only way you can go there is if you get the explorers guild to set up residents in your kingdom.

Here's an interesting idea, if the Aztecs support diplomacy.
Make an alliance with them, then conquer/bribe some settlement on the edge of the European part of the map (preferably one bordering AI nations) Then give the settlement to the Aztec (or maybe 2 or 3 even) and see how far through Europe they get.
