Also please tell me what is the best setting, bilinear, trilinear or the aniso x2, x4, x6 for my computer, I have this :

i have found that battles on the pavia map run alot smoother than on the agincourt map so im guessing that the detial and objects on the map considerable increase lag. Other than that, i havent really toyed with settings much so i couldnt say. But it was very reassuring to see that i could run large battles on pavia with almost no lag on medium settings across the board. My system is similar to yours but i have 1024 ram, which prolly makes a big difference.

The problem with lag is not with the demo battle itself, the lag comes big time when you fighting a 4-way unscript battle, I really hope the retail version will have a bigger improvement on FPS.(keep in mind most of the custom battle are not even in HUGE unit size yet)

try turn off some unnecessary XP services and reduce the background application to minimum, then run the game and adjust the settings

I also have 512 RAM too

On the new demo, the Aztec battle was laggy, but Pavia ran pretty well. Havnt had a chance to try Agincourt yet.

Can you try that with a mod which features 4 armies (ave. 100 Men Each) and see if it lags? Be good to see if an extra GB would make any difference to my 1.

This game lags like hell, they said that if you could play RTW you can play this, but I run RTW without any lag, maybe not with high FPS, but not any lag.
I cant zoom in and watch battles and see the new animations so so far Ive been very dissapointed. I know that I dont have exactly the best computer (I have 2.8ghz pentium IV, 512mb ram and 256mb Radeon 9600 graphics card), but they said that it would be no harder to run than RTW.
Anyways Im going to buy more ram soon (2gb) so that will hopefully fix the problem. To some extent at least.

    I have a p4 2.26 1gb of ram (PC2100) and a 128mb 9600pro. It lags a little on mine with all settings on medium-low.

I reckon you'd be better off with 1 gig of Ram and upgrading your video card as well. I'd upgrade mine but it's a flaming AGP card. Also I only have a 250W psu. Grrrrr!

    "they" never said that.

They said that if you could run RTW on high you should be able to run MTW2 on medium...

512mb of memory is realy low...

I have 512MB of RAM too. But I can watch battles closeup with little to no lag. The lag kicks in when I want to move around.

I noticed that the size of your HUD makes a large difference to lag. It seemed as if having the full "Battle HUD" doubled my performance.

The battle HUD makes covers up more of the screen, so less units to render.

No, the minimal covers up more of the screen because it covers the top, the top right corner and the bottom left corner. The battle HUD only covers the bottom of the screen.

    The performance is ok...
I play rome on med+ settings and i can still run the demo with decent fps. I can even afford high unit details without getting too much lag.
My main gripe is that i cant see my units because of all the corpses.
