    Default Regarding all ATI users..

I've recently tried turning on the Catalyst AI to max and then enabling geometry instancing in the catalyst control center, geometry instancing especially should help out with the large environments, anyways I seem to have noticed a small fps increase although I'm not completely sure. Does anybody else notice improvements while enabling these features?

Thanks for the tip, I will check it out. It is supposed to improve performance in 3d games with extensive geometry. I guess this game falls into that category? Would be very nice if we could make an optimizing guide for ATI cards/nvidia in MTW2. Has this been done for earlier titles?

I just changed to omega drivers and noticed that geometry instancing was enabled by default. When changing to omega, I think I saw a small performance increase. Fps in battle of Otumba doesn't fall under 10 anymore.

Thanks, I didn't think of trying that! I normally set all Catalyst settings to "let program decide" or whatever.

EDIT: Actually, I can't find that setting option either. Where is it? I have the latest Catalyst driver installed for my x1600 card.

I use ATI Tray Tools, a nice little program with all the features of ACC and more. Great for when you want to OC your card or just set different graphics settings for different games. It also has a nice temperature readout feature that lets me tell what settings overheat my card and much more.

On topic: yeah, geometry instancing is a great help with new games... Using it in games like Oblivion, for example, helps a lot with my fps. Too bad my X850 can't handle AA and HDR at the same time.

I tried it, didn't notice any fps increase though.
The setting is under 3D->API Specific
    Is Omega driver faster?

I noticed that Omega drivers perform a bit better in some games, it did give me a few fps more in Medieval 2. That's mostly because there are so plenty of options to tweak in Omega drivers. I recommend.

also get rid of the bloated control center and get yourself Tay Adams' ATI tray tools where u can tweak all the cards options. Here is a great ATI tweak guide you can follow if u have tray tools installed - http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_1.html
