Default CTD in battle: Carthage vs Rome!

    Hello guys,
Here are the specification of this bug:

    Campaign: Carthage on VH/M
    Turn: Aproximatively 50-60
Situation: I attacked 2 Romans armies next to Syracuse.
So, i win the battle, i continue to capture some romans and at the end, i pass the statistics and then, i had that:
""Medieval II Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit""
    and this:

well, give me a rope. This battle was extremely difficult, i was soo happy...

Looks like a 'freeze' rather than CTD (CTD would produce an M2TW error message)

Did you check if the log gives any hints? (You always produce a log whenever you start up the game). If no error in that, then it most likely be that it simply ran out of memory. What are your specs, and how long did you run the game for before it froze? (Good practice is to restart every 1-2 hours, unless you have tons of memory to use)

Well, excuse me. i forgot to said that i had the classical "Medieval II Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit" before this picture...

    My config:

    Windows 7 Édition Intégrale 64-bit SP1
    Intel Core i5 4570 @ 3.20GHz
    8,00 Go Canal-Double DDR3 @ 798 MHz (11-11-11-28)
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. H87M-PLUS (SOCKET 1150)
1024 MoATI AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series (ASUStek Computer Inc)
    I folder
ABout the log file... Well, i didn't have any. I don't know why, but i can't find it in EBII folder...

Nothing in EBII/logs? That's odd, even I have a log despite not having crashed once.

Doesn't seem to be a problem with hardware, 8 gigs is more than enough to run EB2 without problems. Can you try to replicate the error and see if it produces a log this time? (Also, you didn't answer my question about how long you played before crashing)

I played the battle aproximatly 20-25min. i think.
I'll try to do this battle again, as i saved before engage it.
    Then i'll make a feedback.

Well, here is the feedback: Nothing.
I make the battle again, i win it. I continue to make prisoners and i end the battle.
No crash, i return to the campaign map...

I do not understand. The only diference i see is that i have lost a general. But except this point, it's the same thing.
    No log file either.

Does it work the RTW 1 old trick about waiting several seconds before pressing the exit at the end battle screen?. I am getting some CTDs too in this same enviroment, Trinacria area and playing with romans, also after big and epic battles (3 ctds at the moment).

I believe I read somewhere that someone found it useful before, don't see why not you should do it. Best is to wait until everything is quiet (no victory/defeat sounds still playing) to give the engine a bit of time to 'cool-down'.

Mostly likely crashed because you played for too long. Glad to hear everything is running fine now though
