Steam won't update the game

For the past couple of weeks now I've been unable to update both Medieval 2 and Rome total war, therefore leaving me unable to play. I've tried the usual fixes for this issue, i.e. refreshed steam files, re-installed steam (several times), changed my download region and un-subscribed from the beta client. Non of these have worked so far and Steam support have left me hanging for a couple weeks now. I've seen a few other people with the same problem but nobody seems to have found a fix yet, anybody on here got any ideas as to what to do? I'm dying to play EB II.

Have you tried:
1. Tried deleting the Steam folder?
2. then deleting The Creative Assembly folder in Users\username\appdata\roaming?
3. then run a free registry cleaner like Ccleaner?
4. then restart your computer?
5. then www.steampowerd.com,
6. install the client,
7. now, log in?

Dammit, can't find the Users\username\appdata\roaming file. Please assume I am a total moron when it comes to this. I've deleted the Medieval 2 file in local disk D though.

Its probably hidden as default, just click view and check the 'hidden' box

I'm just re-installing Medieval 2 now Irishron, I'll let you know how it goes, It's downloading at least which is a hell of a lot more than it has been doing

Click Start,
In the box above it type Folder Options > Enter.
In its box, click the View tab,
And what you seek is about halfway down.

Huh. Seems it's already deleted. I'm gonna restart in a second. For easy use in the future, how do I take a screenshot so I can post it here? Just in case?

Alright so I deleted Medieval 2 on both C and D, cleaned it via CCCleaner, what then? Install a client from that link? That link just showed some super cheap games for some reason. Aaaand Medieval 2 is STILL in my Steam.

The Attach feature is on the Go Advanced screen.

Yes Medieval2 had still better be in your library. Click on it and see if it will install.

Sigh. Nope. Still got the config error can't download thing. How exactly do I insert URL of images? I've got the screenshots on my desktop.

Bottom right corener of the Quick Reply box is the Go Advanced button. The next screen has the paperclip icon in the toolbar. The pics have to be in .jpg or .png to work. Maybe .bmp works but not sure.

If so and won't install you will have to clean the registry. Many prefer Ccleaner.

Alright, so I didn't verify the game cache. Doing it now ... aaand it's taking a while despite it saying there's only one file. At the moment and let's just say I can't work it out via Steam, how do I clean it via Ccleaner?

Download Ccleaner, install it, have it delete whatever it finds.

All right! I was able to uninstall it! I actually had to uninstall it via Ccleaner rather than just do the standard analyze function. Shame it'll probably take an entire day to redownload it, don't have the best wi-fi at this hotel I'm staying. Will have to do it back home tonight. Anyway, I'll tell you what happens when I am able to reinstall it.

This is the thing I had to save right? Because I couldn't backup because it wasn't downloaded properly.

Yes, you would be better off starting a new campaign when it's reinstalled. Saves at this are probably not good.
