America's New Rhodes???

It seems as though the America's will be easy to conquer, and will give you a huge economic advantage over the AI. Are the America's going to be Medieval Total War's Rhodes??? I'm sure many of you know that Rhodes gave a huge amount of extra cash to those who controlled it.

I have a feeling that by the time the New World is discovered, most players will have pretty much established themselves as the dominant force in Europe...but we'll see. In RTW I'm pretty sure I would have done that by then.

i agree. I even doubt the ability of the AI to get to the new world...

not necessarily having a problem getting the tech and stuff, but getting there.

makes me wonder how compelled the other AI European nations will be to invade the americas, if youll find yourself caught between fighting Aztec and English forces at the same time.. hmm

Im not even sure if the AI has a concept of resource acquisition, let alone threat assessment, it generally seems like mindless expansion in Rome, but then i could be wrong

i doubt you're wrong. Rome's campaign AI was stupid. It was the epitome of mindless.

Well, I remember seeing in a screenshot Spain, the holy roman empire AND England at the Americas.

I think the AI is forced to go there. Scripted I mean. By the time the route to America opens, there won't be many factions left though.. If AI works like in Rome, half of the factions will be destroyed in 100 turns. :wink:

Will the AI in this game try to conquer the Americas? Or will it stay in Europe and do nothing? I hope to meet some past friends in the New World, and possibly have to fight them for the land!

On the other hand I don't want every faction just forgetting about Europe and charging to America, so its easy for me to conquer away in Europe. Anyone know what will be going on here?

The AI will conquer America as soon as they could sail over. Yes, they will reach America before you, and you'll have to fight them to control the new world. But seriously, I doubt anyone here knows until the game is released. I don't think anyone can answer you questions.

yes... as far as i know AI will try to concour america also as soon as this will be possible in game. And yes... America will also be important for every faction to posses, as there will be much gold, goods and materials available for trade and so on. =) cant wait to get the full version game and see how things will turn out really. =)
