Okay, I was just curious so I went to apple.com and looked at their Macs right, and OMFG, they were the craziest **** I have ever seen. It allowed for three teyrabytes of hard drive space, 16 GB of memory, dual core 3.0 GHz, and get this, freaking FOUR Nvidia 7300GTs. Macs are crazy, but this brings up a question, is it only due to it's price that Macs don't get as many sales as PC's????

Well...i dunno if this is still true, but you cant play pc games on macs. You can only play mac games on macs. And the mac gaming market BLOWS.

Whenever I think mac computers, I think of this crappy little imacs that the schools always order in mass quantities. God, I hate imacs.

I thought there was a program called bootcamp that allowed you to run windows on a mac?

I know you can run Windows on a Mac, but I don't know if it supports the 16 GBs of memory though

Well Vista can support up to 128 gigs of RAM, and rest depends on your motherboard. Currently the highest end boards can support 4 NVidia 7980s and Pentium has a 3.7 GHz dual-core. Besides, what could you possibly do with all that hardware on a mac? I can run Gimp on my dad's four year old laptop fast enough for any of my uses. To sum it up: macs are overpriced. Stick with PC.

i just dont like macs, no matter how good their specs get i still would hate them. Mac controls to me ar icky and hard to use. the layout of things on the mac isnt all that great either. Plus the mac ads in australia are really annoying and frustrating.

Well, first of all, no games of today need 16GB of memory, you will receive no performance gain from 16GB of RAM compared to 2GB or RAM, and what kind of RAM was this? DDR or DDR2? Was it a fash frequency and low latency? If not then its a waste of time really.

Secondly, the 7300GT is ****. Four of them wont be better than two 7900GT's, infact I would think that one 7950GTX or GX2 would be better than four 7300GT's.

And lastly, PC games dont work on macs, and the mac gaming market blows as RZZZA puts it.

And its much more fun upgrading/swapping parts in a PC. I see macs like the prebuilt crap that you can buy at dell and such.

The 4 7300GT isn't for gaming, it's for muti-monitor support. Any 3D application will only use one 7300GT to render it.

PC for the win.

That's a workstation.

It's not meant for normal office applications or games.
It's meant for things like 3D design or video editing.

You can buy even more powerful workstations for Microsoft windows.
Like one with 8 AMD Opteron processors, or with multiple intel Xeon processors.
They won't make your games run any faster though.

ps: Macs are great for graphics design because they are less prone to data corruption (which is important when working on files that are multiple GB's in size) and their color screens are better standardized (so the picture on your screen actually look like the stuff you print).
For all other things I don't think they are so great.

If data corruption is your cup of tea, then you should come over to Linux, because EXT 3 is nearly bullet proof in that arena.

Well, you might get a gain with that sort of memory. After all, wasn't there reports of RTW running much better after they gave it much more swap area on the Hard drive? That means that more memory would have been helpful.

I know you can run Windows on a Mac, but I don't know if it supports the 16 GBs of memory though.

You need the 64 bit edition.

bottom line: Macs are well engineered (open up a power mac and see). Mac OS is probably the finest OS around (powerful GUI like windows and powerful command line like linux at the same time). But they take too big of a hit on your wallet to be worthwhile.

Notice you have to add $4000+ to have 16 Gbs of RAM. The default is 1 Gb.
