The Date is missing on the campaign map

The scroll to the right of the + and - signs (bottom left) dopes not show the date. How do I restore it as I`ve seen some screenshots with a date? Its not a big deal as the info is elsewhere.

Just add or set it to "true" or "1":


show_hud_date=true under [misc] in your ebII.cfg.

Although I had that from start and even set the file to write protect, it doesn't work for me.

I open my ebII.cfg. and I don't fine nothing about:

show_hud_date=true under [misc]

Yeah that fix doesn't work for me either. Dunno why.

Ok then just add that section:

show_hud_date=true

Is anyone else finding that the game rewrites the config file every time the game is exited and wipes away your changes?

Set it as read only when you've made your changes.

Yep Ive already done that Bovi and it works, you just get an error message when you exit the game now but it doesnt affect gameplay. Curious to know why it needs to be done though as Ive never come across this before

It's an unfortunate remnant of a tool that we needed in the past. I think we'll be rid of this in the next release.

i have both show_hud_date = 1 and
windowed = 1
borderless_window = 1
in my cfg yet it doesnt seem to affect the game :/ any ideas? the game doesnt change it when i exit either.

Yea I haven't been able to fix this either. Some say you need to put the file as "read only" but that didn't work for me.

I have notepad++ and i put as ''read only'' but it has no effect with the game always rewriting the CFG file.

You may have a problem with the virtual store then. Try to add permissions to the M2TW folder as described here under "I have tried the files in the items above, and am still not getting the game to run.".

Then edit the configuration file again and set it as read only.

I did it and it's still rewriting the file. Thanks anyway.

Sorry, but then I cannot help you with the configuration file. Thankfully, in the next version, we'll be rid of the process that is overwriting it.

@Dom pedro are you using notepad++ to set as read only or doing it in windows after altering the file? If the former try saving the file after you have edited it then exit notepad++, then write click on the file, choose properties and set read only there. Thats what I did and it works fine. please post back to let us know if it worked

I have that entry in my CFG file, its read only but date is still missing

I've also noticed that when the advisor pops up to notify you that a Colony can be built, his speech box wont come up and when you click on his box to try and reveal his speach bubble it flickers on and then off again.
This wasn't happening when I first started the game, after a while that happened along with the date and season in the bottom corner panel.


UPDATE: The fix for the Date worked and i've figured out why the Advisor's speech bubble wasn't showing, I had it on Audio only, had to toggle it to Text only. Fixed
